Coco is the kitty who did the impossible: she entered my household six months after Pyewacket crossed the rainbow bridge, and she more than filled that “ecological niche.”
I look forward to cat tales because you tell them with such fond regard for your critters. I tend to like mischievous and even cranky pets because they keep folks vigilant, but I suspect they would be endlessly distracting for a writer.
on this coast, the crankiness increases on a daily basis. but pretty much only when somebody visits. Jubal gets incredibly needy and Daisy reverts to her crazy resource-guarding; in this case, the resource is human attention.
we have identical taste in cats. After small black panther McCone went to the Rainbow Bridge, Pangur entered and has grown into a McCone Clone--identical except twice as big. And somewhere back in time is the First Mother of All Pyewackets/ Cocos/McCones/Pangurs and on 'tother side of the rainbow bridge they all meet and go "Boy, did we conquer those folks."
Smurfie is a clone of Coco's - except no white patch on her belly. The laying on the back with feet in the air - check. The getting under the covers - check.
As always, feline Friday(sunday) causes tears. Somehow, all our "kids" come along at the right time.
Both Sebastian (orange and white) and Roscoe (black and white) do that when they're on the bed with me. They also do it when sleeping on the chairs in the living room. I take it to mean they consider themselves totally safe here.
The cats you write about seem to have fallen into line post haste. You must have a calming effect on them, which is certainly a good thing when you have several as housemates.

Tom you have an interesting niche in the world of felids, as the Keeper. Something about them gives you energy or keeps you sane, or content, or simply fuels the love you give to them, which comes back to you, and then back to them, and probably plays into generating some of the more hilarious things that come off of your typewriter. And even if it's really a computer, it probably occupies the niche of a typewriter, clacking away.
She looks like my Lulu except Lulu has two green eyes. Isn’t it amazing that the love just keeps expanding to include all comers. I still miss each and every gone kitty but each is so precious in their own way, and “new” ones have helped soothe my broken heart.
in that picture on the couch with her extended paw, she looks like she's about to demand that someone peel her a grape. beautiful cat.
despite my being the most non-religious person I know, I persist in clinging to your Rainbow Bridge thing. I suppose it's a way of compensating for how much we miss the animals we've loved. I actually sometimes find myself worrying about whether or not they'll get along with each other...
Thanks
We never stop grieving and loving
It's what good humans do
Beautiful TC. Thanks for sharing Coco’s story. I needed this today.

I have several of those right now. Mostly mischievous, but a couple are cranky.

the trouble is that a lot of people visit.

My non-black kitties never slept with feet in the air or slept under cover.

maybe a black cat thing??
lucky cat, and very lucky you!

Yeah, they quickly get the idea all is OK.
Thank you for this lovely tale. Even after our furry feline companions depart our physical world, their memories live on in our hearts.
Yes they do.
Spanx looks like Coco, complete with the white belly splotch. Thanks for this sweet story.

This is a beautiful story about Coco and how she got so lucky finding you and Jurate! Lovely to read and see the pics.
Reminds me of my Little Bear
