UNTIL JUSTICE IS REAL
Back in 1968, my friend Karl Metzenberg - at the time proprietor of the best bookstore in Westwood Village back when it really was a village and not a real estate overdevelopment - introduced me to another of his “collection” of creative people he allowed in his world, a kid who’d just celebrated his 18th birthday and was rumored to be on the verge of signing a record deal.
“Meet Jackson Browne - he’s pretty good.”
Indeed he was. And here we are 53 years later and he’s still pretty good. The new album is “pure Jackson.”
“Until Justice is Real”
What is democracy?
What is the deal?
What would it look like?
How would it feel?
Putting your shoulder to the wheel
And staying with it until justice
Until justice is real
Real artists only retire when they’re planted.
