Wow! I had not realized just how thirsty I've been for Poking Around! Relief is spelled "Poking Around"!! And so much to marvel at...if Rubin is leaving wapo, that spells the end for me.

This one deserves shouting everywhere but especially in Louisiana.

"From the Department of Please Give Me Five Minutes Alone With This Guy: The Right Rev. Speaker MAGA Mike quietly sent a letter to the EPA last week asking for grant money for his district under Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act. He wants the money for the city of Minden and Louisiana Tech University. His letter said their project “is designed to focus on water quality and sustainability … specifically targeting underserved communities in north Louisiana.”MAGA Mike voted against the Inflation Reduction Act, calling it “clueless”, “legislative malpractice”, “disaster” that will “crush the American people.”

Spell the word "republican "? HYPOCRITE = republican

Canceled WaPo at last yesterday but found out they won't pro-rate so I'm paying until April 8! But that will free up $$$ for a paid subscription to The Contrarian and possibly one other.

Don’t ask how low they can go because the answer is always lower. 🤦🏽‍♀️🙇🏻‍♀️

I appreciated the piece of good news at the end. I breathed a sigh of relief at being reminded that there are some people who wield power who choose to use it for good.

It's a bigger deal than many would understand. VERY VERY expensive to board large animals - for an establishment like the Equestrian Center to do it for free? Its a big deal.

Hard to comprehend how someone could manage if they have several horses and no place for them to go.

Yes, a smart move to circle back to good news at the close of the post.

Geneen Roth publishes delightful quotes at the start of each email post… Today’s says:

Here's what I know:

What you are looking for you can find now.

You can find kindness and blessings in the heat of the struggle. In fact, that's where you're most likely to find them.

Tom, you are one of the few people who can make me laugh over the antics of these jugheads. Comic relief is appreciated (and their antics are not).

I never ever in my wildest dreams thought I would be able to agree with anything Steve Bannon says. But on the South Africans who are hijacking this country, he is RIGHT.

KATHERINE H. TERHUNE's avatar

Agreed. A headline today said Steve Bannon is ramping up his attacks on Musk and I messaged a friend saying never before have I agreed with Steve Bannon, but I’m on his side with this one. Peter Thiel as well and the other culprit.

Fettermanchin is the perfect name for that DINO. I'm so mad I donated to him I could scream.

kdsherpa's avatar

His actions have completely SHOCKED me! (Maybe you could ask for a refund?)

Maggie's avatar

I thought once manchin & sinama (?) were gone, we could sigh with relief. Nice to know he's taken they place, right?

kdsherpa's avatar

WHY??? It's GOT to be for the $$$$$$$$$, doesn't it???

TCinLA's avatar

Fetterman's taken Manchin's spot and it looks like Gallegos has taken Sinema's spot.

KATHERINE H. TERHUNE's avatar

I’ve seen that morph and wondered what’s going on with Gallegos???!

kdsherpa's avatar

GALLEGOS?!!! I donated a LOT of $$$ to his damn campaign!

Hannah's avatar

So did I. Still, anyone is better than Lake. small wins.

Telling MAGAts “We told you so!” will be the default position for all thinking individuals in the country for the foreseeable future. A retired local police detective told me that a comman’s marks will never admit they were taken in by a bunco artist, so shaming the boobs will not accomplish anything except some self satisfaction. Hey, that’s another Stones song to lay on the MAGAts…”I can’t get no Satisfaction”.

TC,not to mention The Department of Suck-ups and all the Ca Republicans who fled to Mar-A-Lago during the wildfires.Speaking of suck-ups, DeSantis also made the trip south and just called a special session for legislature to respond to 😡 immigration policies.Apparently our sheriffs are “chomping at the bit” to enforce.

Mikey Johnson is such a

hypocrite. Steve Bannon talks

big but produces little except

shite, which he's happy to

throw all over the place. Yep

MAGA, be careful what you

wish for. Sometimes it turns

out to be shite and you get

covered in it too. I'm not

donating to any other

politicians but Jamie Raskin

at this time and AOC.

Fetterman has lost my

respect and will not get 1

cent ever again. As for all

the others, they have to

prove themselves. So far it's

been crickets.

Dave Conant - MO's avatar

If you have an 'Every State Blue' operation where you live, they're worth donations too.

Victoria Brown's avatar

I have some grassroots I support Dave.

I totally agree. They are both brilliant and excellent communicators

Re: Dept of FTPITF, it looks like Muck and Ramaswamadingdong are the Get out of Responsibility Free cards for the incoming Republicans in Congress. Instead of owning any decisions they'll just say "DOGE told us to" and that will be it. Keeping all of this BS in front of mind for 658 more days will be hard, but we've done hard work before.

And kudos to all the folks in

Los Angeles area taking in all these animals. For so many, this is all they have left; a beloved pet.

(1) "Over 60 German Universities announced in a joint statement that they will no longer use Musk’s X platform for any purpose: 'This decision sends a clear signal in favor of fact-based communication and against anti-democratic forces.'" I hadn't heard this, and it is -- truly THRILLING!!! (2) Trump speaking of his (former) golf caddy: “I call him the most powerful man in politics because nobody else has my password.” Good to know. (3) As for Fetterman, maybe that stroke he had on May 13, 2022 did more damage than we were told. (4) Lastly, good for Jennifer Rubin. Amazing how many of the former Republicans have turned their backs, mightily, on the orange sadist.

As I drove hearing NPR reporting yesterday, 01/19/25 at Mar-a-Lago… A Coronation Ball? A what???? $225 per ticket but that window closed and now $850 per ticket…?????! Coronation! That’s the label they’re using! Per the Charlie Brown and Lucy crowd, a big long AAAAAAAUUUGH!!!!!

If you need a new bow for your violin Tom, I think I can round up a tooth pick for you, just let me know. ;-)

Thanks, Tom. Since after one viewing many, many years ago, I haven't watched Chuck Todd again. He came about as a self centered dimwit. Where ever he goes I hope it isn't Substack.

I'd prefer sending Elmo Muck to Mars with a one way rocket.

Love the unveiling of yet another Republican trying to take advantage of a bill he voted against. But then again, good Calvinist that he is, what more could you expect from right reverend mike?

Judith Swink (CA)'s avatar

If Chuckie goes to substack, no big deal. I can ignore him as easily as I have ignored him since shortly after he was appointed host for Meet the Press. And changed the channel when he shows up elsewhere.
