Elon’s flying monkeys have already messed with Social Security.

I checked my account on login.gov on Monday and all my work history were intact. Checked again on Wednesday and it has all disappeared. My account contains only my email and preferred language.

Advice: log in ASAP. If your information is intact, print it and download it to a hard drive or thumb drive, or screenshot it. Make yourself a copy so you can apply to get it restored. As a former systems programmer, my guess is that the monkeys have installed a worm to erase us all, but it takes time for an ancient system to grind through 320 million people.

If your data is gone, go to your congressman’s local office, if possible, if not, call them. Ask for help restoring it.

I went to mine yesterday and spent an hour with the Deputy District Director. He was freaked and checked, then printed his while I was there. He’s checking to see if my info still exists on the regional servers and will get back to me Monday or Tuesday.

Protect yourself!

Thanks, Danielle. Great advice to protect ourselves so will do ASAP.

I walked into my MAGA Rep’s local office to ask what they were doing about Elon’s takeover and his access to my personal data. When the staffer said “we don’t know if any data breach has occurred”, I shared the experience of “an acquaintance”/ commenter on RH/Today’s Edition:

“Today, 2/3/25, all three of the identity theft/credit bureaus I subscribe to sent me alerts, that my email address and login ID name information appeared on the DARK WEB. The email address named in the alert is one I use ONLY for Medicare and Social Security communication. I’ve since created a new unique login.”

In general it’s a good practice, but if you haven’t already done so recommend putting a freeze on your credit reports.

I froze all 3 credit reporting companies last year, just in case. I also have several years of the annual notice from Social Security Administration informing me of this year's SS amount and amount from that used for Medicare. This is just one of the reasons I hang on to paper records in addition to what's on my computer.

Mine are still there. Keep in mind that when you use Login.gov you don't automatically see your social security records. You have to go to "linked accounts" and click on the social security link. Try that before assuming the worst.

But if you've gone through all that and STILL are missing records, yes, complain to everyone in sight. If yours are actually gone, YOU could be the plaintiff that allows standing for a suit. See the court discussion of standing in denying a TRO to the Dept of Labor suit to boot Elon.

Thanks for this info Susan. Mine are still there.

Susan Linehan's avatar

I also checked: can't change any of the info on Login itself without 2 step verification.

Maggie's avatar

Quite honestly - I hesitate to "sign in" on login.gov since this crew are already poking and messing around - may not be such a great idea.

Susan Linehan's avatar

If you've set up a security key , I don't think they'll be able to hack into your account via a sign in. My key is on a flash drive connected to my computer. They'd have to hack into MY computer to get to it. And, of course, you can remove the flashdrive if you aren't using it for other security keys.

You DO have to use a username and password to get into Login. But to get to SSA, you can use a security key

Danielle, I just signed on and there is no work history, just the last 2 or 3 times I signed in. Would I find it under the history tab?

That priority EO 4547 signed last night cutting off foreign aid to South Africa because of land reforms intended to correct some of the grossly negative effects of colonialism because the white guys no longer get to have it all, and that he would prioritize letting those white guys get in the front of the immigration line here is beyond flagrant. Where's a similar offer to the Palestinians that he wants to bump off their land so he and Bibi can build yet another playground for the wealthy?

And irony of ironies. Iran will respond if 4547 jumps ugly. And they can say this with justifiable bravado because they probably now have nukes thanks to 45 scuttling the agreement Obama forged that stifled their nuclear program.

During 45's first assault on democracy he tried to get rid of Voice of America, so it won't surprise me if goon Hegseth doesn't try again and maybe even kill "Stars and Stripes."

And, finally, I hope there is some young girl with birthright citizenship keeping a diary of her life in an attic where she's hiding with her immigrant parents. I pray she will have a better ending than the other girl who left a diary.

Lord, lord, the evil has an upper hand. Waiting for a few MAGAts to FAFO. May never happen since the media, the churches, and the moribund democrats are emulating pre-war Germany.

I very much appreciate these updates where I can skim the whole crazy all at once. I think our government is already gone. Pres Musk moved with great speed before anyone could think of what crimes to charge him with. Now it’s off to the races. Our legal system isn’t up to fighting tyranny even though that was its entire purpose. Our system moves way too slowly to deal with real problems.

Dilbert, Orange Face, Wreck has lost all court cases since Noon on 1/20/25.

Judith Swink (CA)'s avatar

This would be far more assuring if all of those cases weren't preliminary rulings so more to come. Hope the judges hold the line of the law when they hold subsequent hearings.

Thanks Tom, the hits just keep on comin'...

TC, on the "Presidential Press (sic) Corp" ... Someone asked Wreck: "Will you put Elon Musk up on the Podium ...." Time to start taking names of reporters that ask real questions ... questions that the audience answers in their heads. Good question by Somebody.

TC, you just got me using "Elmo's Children's Brigade" when you come up with 'TMMNCGeeks' which is a little long ....

Now, you got a 25 year old Brigade member with a sordid Rap Sheet whose on-line post-moniker is "BALLS". Tom, what a set-up for a lay-up for you!

How about Elmo's Rigling? ... or Elmo's Rigling Brothers?

TCinLA's avatar

Elmo's children's Brigade is still operative. I just thought of coming up with something else for sheets 'n' giggles

This keeps up, we'll be asking for cyanide from our doctor before summer. Either that or OxyContin if we want to continue to live under the I-75 (pick your favorite interstate) bridge, until next winter.

The NPR station I listen to in the Bay Area is KQED. KCBS sounds like a CBS station, doesn’t it?

Yes, KQED discusses immigrants’ rights as something immigrants can find out about. I have never heard any tip offs about upcoming raids.

TCinLA's avatar

KCBS is a CBS station. This news was reported on NPR separately.

Do you know whether the intent in this--money seized from corrupt officials meant to be returned to victim countries--is in any statute or regulation? Or is just that antique thing, unbiased DOJ policy?

Thanks TC. I was a young assistant on a work trip to South Africa to the lyricist/co writer of the musical King Kong about the life of Soweto boxer Ezekiel Dlamini back in 1978. There are many experiences of that time there that I have shared only with my partner. One of them was the day I spent with a delightful Jewish Zionist family who took mecout to an idyllic series of rock pools set high in the unspoilt hills behind Capetown. As I had been introduced to them as a theatre student from a (then not now!) wealthy NYC family they spoke openly in front of me of the longterm Israeli Zionist plan to take over South Africa as their second Jewish homeland. You can see why I have kept this to myself all these years. I had thought it was thankfully thwarted by the ending of the colonialist apartheid regime. Pro apartheid South African Musk’s prioritising the repatriation of white supremacist Afrikaaners in the US combined with Trump and Netanyahu’s plan to ethnically cleanse Gaza of the Palestinians has reminded me of it.
