There are 605 days to the mid terms and six days till the Great GOP Fakakte happens. The jobs report came out Friday morning, and came in lower than expected. The Dow is down 1,500 over the past 30 days, and negative 3.0% economic growth is now being projected for 1st Quarter; had Biden remained in offi e, it was projected for a plus 3.0 - The Guy Who Bankrupted Two Casinos is maintaining his record of economic genius. Maladministration II and the State Media Faux Snooze are desperately trying to spin the bad news like crazy - they want to convince you that up is down and in is out and black is white, and it’s really Biden’s Recession from the terrible bad no good awful “Biden Economy.” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent came up with a new way to describe what they are doing to the economy: "Could we be seeing this economy that we inherited starting to roll a bit? Sure, there's gonna be a detox period." Fox Business analyst Charles Payne: "A couple days ago, Bank of America came out with their credit card data, and it was scary. I mean, shocking declines in restaurants, airlines, lodging. Just look at the most recent poll on people who said they're going go traveling in the next few months. It has plunged. I think the boom times are over." Maria Baritromo: “We could see a recession. But it would be Biden’s recession.” You people are so fucking dumb, you need crutches for your brains.
From the Department of Call Out The Stupidity: When Bessent said tariffs aren’t a big deal because lower prices aren’t a key part of achieving the American dream, “Dark Pence” resurfaced to call him out. Mike Pence: “Actually Sec. Bessent, it is. Free trade lowers the costs of goods and improves the quality of life for every American. Let’s Pursue Free Trade with Free Nations and Revive the American Dream.”
From the Department of the Treason Continues: The Kviv Independent reports the US commercial satellite imagery company Maxar has cut off Ukraine from receiving its imagery after pressure was brought by Maladministration II: “Kyiv has relied on high-resolution satellite images for defense and strategic planning, tracking Russian troop movements, assessing battlefield conditions, and monitoring Russian infrastructure. The restriction was imposed under an order from the administration, with the State Dept prohibiting US companies from providing satellite data to Ukraine.” Norway-based EU defense analyst Fabian Hoffmann: “Ukraine being cut off from US-supplied commercial products is bad news. Unless private interests in the US, including defense manufacturers, push back, it is very likely that Ukraine will be entirely cut off from US supply chains and products, including for maintenance. EU decision-makers must 100% operate under the baseline assumption that direct and indirect US assistance will shrink to zero in the coming months.” Sir William Browder: “This looks like a well-orchestrated conspiracy by the US govt to destroy Ukraine’s ability to defend themselves. Of all my pessimistic scenarios about how this war would develop, this wasn’t one of them.”
From the Department of Squid Ink Production”: Krasnov posted on Lies Anti-Social Friday morning that he was upset that Putin has ramped up missile attacks; he is starting to consider maybe putting together concepts of a plan to possibly do something about this eventually: “Based on the fact that Russia is absolutely ‘pounding’ Ukraine on the battlefield right now, I am strongly considering large scale Banking Sanctions, Sanctions, and Tariffs on Russia until a Cease Fire and FINAL SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT ON PEACE IS REACHED.” (Krasnov is apparently unaware that there are already large scale Banking Sanctions that have cut Russia off from the Western economy, that there are Sanctions on all economic intereaction with Russia, and that it is impossible to impose Tariffs when there is no trade.) FACT CHECK: First, Ukraine is pounding Russia “on the battlefield”, not the other way around. Russia is pounding CIVILIAN targets indiscriminately in Ukraine. Krasnov has cut Ukraine off from the tools they used for the last three years from the Biden Admin to protect their people. He is handing Putin all the leverage by causing more pain and death for Ukrainians who continue to resist. Krasnov was asked later about his post, in the Oval Office: "You said Russia is pounding Ukraine. Why not provide Ukraine with air defenses?” Kr asnov: “Because I have to know that they want to settle. I don’t know that they want to settle. If they don’t want to settle, we’re out of there.” Krasnov was also asked if Putin is taking advantage of the US withholding intelligence, to launch major strikes: “I think he’s doing what anybody else would do. I think he wants to get it stopped and so I think he’s hitting him harder than he’s been hitting them. And I think probably anybody in his position would be doing that right now.” Orwell would post that as #1 example of his definition of “political language”: “Political language is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind.”
From the Department of Give This Senator A Prize: Senator Chris Murphy: “It’s still amazing to me how the media accepts what Trump says as truth and reports it straight. Despite daily evidence that he is always lying. There is no evidence he is restraining Musk. I understand it is hard to cover someone who lies. But maybe that means it’s not news when Trump says it - like this case or his constant tariff talk that never actually comes to fruition. Maybe it’s only news when something is actually implemented.” Krasnov’s words mean nothing - watch what he does, not what he says he is going to do.
From the Department of You’ve Got To Be Shitting Me: The Atlantic reports that Krasnov has alarmed his closest aides with a request to have the original Declaration of Independence moved from the rotunda in National Archives Bldg into the Oval Office so he can show it to people each day. This is the most treasured single document owned by the government and is kept behind heavy glass in an oxygen-free, argon-filled case that retracts into the wall at night for security. If it was in the well-lit Oval Office, with sunlight pouring through the large windows, it would be destroyed as quickly as Krasnov is destroying the government that Declaration proclaimed.
From the Department of Another Krasnov Decision Ends In Failure: Krasnov’s plan to house migrants at Guantanamo is facing major hurdles. Since he announced the military would prep 30,000 tents for mass deportations, a total of 256 illegal migrants passed through the base, according to US Southern Command. The military built only 195 tents but halted in late February after they realized the tents did not meet DHS/ICE standards. As of last Wednesday, only 20 migrants were being held at the base. On Februrary 26, nine migrants were sent back to the US from Gitmo with no explanation. Additionally, Maladministration II has stopped using C-130 and C-17 military transports to take migrants to Gitmo. Only half of those sent there have records of committing violent crimes, which was the original reason for sending them there. The others are all completely non-violent.
From the Department of Because I Can, You Lessers: AL Political Reporter says that Elmo’s DOGE has directed the GSA to sell the building housing the historic Freedom Rides Museum in Montgomery, Alabama. The museum was built on the site where Freedom Riders were attacked by white supremacists in 1961, and is owned by the government. So why would an Unreconstructed White Afrikaner Believer In Apartheid want to do such a thing? Oops, I answered my own question.
From the Department of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Fuckwits Are Still At It: The WaPo reported that DOGE recently tried to gain access to a key database that monitors child support payments, which contains a huge trove of confidential information about the earnings of all US workers - not just those who pay child support. The system was created to help enforce child support payments, which compiles a massive amount of information about wages, insurance, benefits, and a lot of other data. Elmo reportedly wants the data to check tax records against federal benefits, grants, and student loans. A career civil servant refused to allow access to the info and a confrontation ensued. WaPo sources do not know whether DOGE was ever able to access the data, and nobody at RFK Jr’s HHS would comment about it.
From the Department of At Least One Judge Got It Right: On Friday, Federal District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly rejected a request the Alliance for Retired Americans and several employee unions to block DOGE from accessing a the main federal payment system at the Treasury Department, known as the Fiscal Service, which handles 90 percent of federal payments, finding they failed to show they would face irreparable harm if the DOGE staff gained access. “If Plaintiffs could show that Defendants imminently planned to make their private information public or to share that information with individuals outside the federal government with no obligation to maintain its confidentiality, the Court would not hesitate to find likelihood of irreparable harm, but on the present record, Plaintiffs have not shown that Defendants have such a plan.” Her previous order allowed two DOGE-affiliated employees to receive read-only access to the payment system. Despite Kollar-Kotelly’s decision, another ruling blocks DOGE from the system. In late February, U.S. District Judge Jeannette Vargas partially granted a request from 19 Democratic attorneys general, agreeing to bar the DOGE team from the Fiscal Service. She also offered Maladministration II a process through which they could eventually gain access: If administration officials certify that DOGE staff have received proper training and share details about their vetting and security clearances, the judge said she would consider lifting or modifying her order.
Here’s the good news for Saturday:
From the Department of Fuck You In Your Face Asshole: A Maladministration II official has been forced into a humiliating climb-down after trying to make life more difficult for the parents of newborns in a state whose governor is feuding with the president. Lee Dudek, the acting Social Security Commissioner, announced on Thursday that Maine parents would not be able to register their newborns for a social security number at the hospital, sparking an immediate backlash. Less than 24 hours later, he reversed course and apologized, saying: “In retrospect, I realize that ending these contracts created an undue burden on the people of Maine, which was not the intent. For that, I apologize.” Dudek had offered no explanation for his original move, but Krasnov recently attacked Maine Governor Janet Mills for refusing to comply with his order banning transgender women from competing in women’s sports.
There’s more, but I’d rather spend the rest of the day rescuing American POWs from the prison camp in Bucharest in the midst of Romania’s surrender 80 years ago, a better time than today.

I wonder why I couldn't find the Chris Murphy quote in the new vichy times or the washington compost. Hm.
One of my biggest issues with the press corpse (thanks, Brother Cleaver), beyond their general incompetence, is that they often get moving only when their ox is gored. Dana Milbank, who has evolved into a great columnist, tore into the maladministration about freedom of the press. We might start seeing more actual reporting now that they feel more endangered.
I am baffled about why that judge says the plaintiffs have to demonstrate harm. In any other context this would be considered a data breach. When it happens to a private company, they have to disclose it publicly. The risk of getting access to that data is way too great - it's why actual department members have strict security protocols.
