My old man lived through the Great Depression during his childhood and now it looks like I’ll be living through another Depression 2.0 in my retirement years…oh, joy…there goes the economy down the toilet, thanks to Donnie Dumbfuck.
The ugliest man alive is making us the ugliest country on the planet. I don’t wear caps but I need to get one saying. Make America Poor Again. Damn, is Rupert worried about his stash of the spoils. Make Rupert a Pariah again
I refer to trump's cabinet members as "Sickratary" of Whatever Dept.
One of the things I handled in my practice was Motor Vehicle Dealer Bonds (protecting customers from shady dealings, as well as the tax folks and other dealers from non-payment) About a year before the Great Recession I started seeing a huge increase in claims against bonds from S Cal. The problem was mostly that dealers could not pay their floors (lenders) to release titles. The trend continued up the coast. One dealer told me that despite weekend ads, NO ONE came in at all to even look, much less buy.
I kept saying "the economy is headed for the tubes." It was my canary in the coal mine moment.
As cars went, so went the nation. And with these tariffs, cars sales are gonna go. If car parts cross the border several times, as is reported, the 25% tariff is going to balloon to over 100% before they get into finished cars for sale.
The fate of Anthony Vo raises an interesting question. What if Canada required visas from US citizens before they could enter? Anyone without a visa would be arrested as "undocumented" as soon as they crossed the border. If US customs let them through, there could be black Marias sitting next to the Canadian customs station.
The visas could be easy to get, on line even, but you'd be required to give your SSN and passport number. Canada already prohibits felons: this would make it easier to vet them ahead of time, and it could cover anyone with a felony conviction "whether or not pardoned in the home country." And the penalty would be jail time, not deportation.
I recommend Jeff Tiedrich, who recalled Pol Potbelly declaring that he could pour water on magnets and they would quit working. For some reason that statement, made over a year ago, never appeared in punchy sulzberger's new vichy times.

The DOGE personnel, who do not officially work for the U.S. government, demanded access and then threatened to call U.S. Marshals. "Three of the sources said the DOGE personnel wanted to gain access to security systems and personnel files. Two of those sources said also they wanted access to classified information." USAID Director of Security John Voorhees and his deputy were later relieved of duty."
So, how did this end? Were the DOGE punks allowed in after the director and his deputy were relieved of their duty? And who relieved these officials of their duty? Who placed the order to relieve them of their security duty? And why did this happen on a SATURDAY NIGHT? CNN needs to do more than report superficially on what appears to be an outright B&E by a couple of thugs.
Take care TC! I love reading the outrage but I worry that your health might suffer! I too am disgusted and furious about all the big and tiny steps toward oligarchy enacted by this criminal regime but we need to take time for self-care in order to keep fighting the good fight.
“[A] massive market crash that could devastate 401(k)s, pensions, and household savings across America.” — Well, if the 401(k)s and IRAs go down the toilet, a lot of people will still need to work when they expected to retire. Because the economy would likely not be very healthy in this scenario, there’ll be fewer part time jobs for retirees who want to work to make up their lost savings. In a very gloomy scenario, there will have been cuts to Social Security and Medicare; coupled with the loss of retirement savings, there’d be a lot of elderly folks who can’t afford food or medicine. One could wonder what the technogeek overlords have in mind for the elderly and infirm in this dystopian landscape.
The more actions they take to drastically increase the hardship for ordinary people, the more I think that imposing mass hardship is what they’re aiming for, and the “government efficiency” is a bullshit smokescreen. Note that if they cause runaway inflation with the tariffs, they will put a hard squeeze on working people, so the people are too exhausted and stressed to be politically active. And if they make the market tank, elderly people who need to start drawing on their retirement investments will be wallopped. But hey, who cares about that? The fat cats will be able to buy huge rafts of stock being sold at bargain basement prices by desperate people! A smorgasbord of bargains for the billionaire sociopaths!
All of this was telegraphed. And far too many people (including never trump republicans) have been insisting that Musk would wear out his welcome.
Doesn't seem to be the case.
Congress has fully abdicated any of their duties.
And I get tired with people excoriating the Dems for not fighting. Dafuq can they do (but don't get me started on the fuckwad traitor Dem Senators voting to affirm any of Trump's nominees. Fetterman needs to go)
I know I should be moving all of my 401(k) into bonds or other fixed income securities. I am having a hard time pulling the plug. And I really resent that my portfolio is going to loose 30% of its value. God I really don’t want to have to work until I die.

Has he blamed the plane crash in Philadelphia on the little Mexican girl yet?

I don’t know the “who” but yes, they were let in.

I think the venting helps. He is a sailor, after all.
Ditto request from this nurse. Take Care! We need your fire and f@#$.

Can we buy a transport trailer and all move to Canada now? Start a commune?

Thanks for that uplifting and enlightening gift Kent.
I love your rants. Almost makes me wish I reenlisted..
Gotta admit, I am numb.
