Happy Birthday! Remember to cuss extra gleefully because it's your special day - i read a double-blinded study that swearing is indeed good for longevity... ;-)
So the Missouri assholes repealed a voter referendum? How is that possible? I remember reading about that in Ohio too, for both abortion and gerrymandering measures that were passed by a big majority of voters, and then, a while later, and headline that said it was repealed after the governor signed something.
The GOP once again running interference for business against voter's democratically expressed wishes. This makes me want to use very very bad language.
Happy early birthday! Enjoy your weekend. And if it’s nice out, make sure to touch lots of grass!
I have a question for Donald. Who exactly is the NATO entity with all the money paying for weapons for Ukraine? Are they in the room with us right now?
Happy birthday Sunday (if I’m reading that right)! 🎈🎉Celebrate! 🎉I definitely misremembered, thought 7/3, that the F1 outing was party mode! (BTW The theater company that bought Icon multiplex facilities hereabouts is Alamo, while I kept saying Adobe… Five letters, starts with an A… Oh well. I hear they’re big in Texas and beyond. Full name: Alamo Drafthouse Cinema!
Forgive me, but the Superman image is obscene! (Just my humble opinion.)
Creampuff and Sebastian look like twinsies! And dear Cary…
They are so so so individual! I feel like the more you are open to whatever they want to communicate, as long as trust is there, the communication can astound.
Alamo Drafthouse is the theater chain that started serving more than popcorn and Coke - real food, booze, etc, and bringing it to you once you're seated. The AMC we went to also did that - an OK way of taking the sting out of $24 tickets and $10 chocolate milkshakes.
Yes, a real departure from buying popcorn before you go into the theater… I’ve been perusing the menu but haven’t taken the plunge yet. $37.99 monthly pass, one movie per day if you want… But even if you go only twice in the month, it pays for itself… They’ve put innovative thought into their marketing!
Your comment poked the bear and all this stuff came out…
When I was very young, apparently I was ambidextrous and with my right hand, drew and wrote left to right and with my left hand, right to left. Symmetry! I remember Mom tapping my left hand and telling me not to bother because nobody was going to pay attention to that.
In my classes, always I spoke up for kids who were reversing their 3s or 5s, which some prince- or princess-minded kid would mock… But supposedly dyslexia and such can indicate strength with the arts so… To each his own, yes? “Nobody’s normal, everybody’s weird.” One of my favorite greeting cards… When I was subbing, I even ran across little framed prints of that, on teachers’ desks, displayed for all to see…
That brings to mind 8th grade English at Woodside (that quote was on Mrs. Rubin’s desk!), my very first subbing job, on Halloween no less, 2008. I was tenuous, to put it mildly, but grew to know that class well (subbed preK-8) and I remember popular Joey, clearly bright, but seldom caught up with his work. A worktime was underway one day, and, sitting at the teacher’s desk, I must’ve been staring into space… Joey caught my eye and quipped across the room, “Thinking again?” Ha! I actually grew to love subbing!
Alamo/Adobe… I distinctly remember one year having a Jonas and a Jason, can picture them in this very moment, 8 years old… I never mixed them up but now and then the wrong name came out: same letters, different sequence… A little bit of rewiring needed. Lol.
So odd, the things that stay in my brain whereas other stuff… I must’ve clicked on delete.
Many workers-including US citizens, were held by federal authorities at the farm for 8 hours or more. US citizen workers report only being released after they were forced to delete photos and videos of the raid from their phones.
There are so many horrors to scroll through I find it a relief when reading about each day's description of slaughtered Palestinians waiting for aid and food and as you scroll a photo is rising from the text and it is not a horror at all but two cats, Creampuff and Sebastian.
Keep on keeping on, Tom. Your country needs you. Our (former?) allies need you.
Trump is going to wreck AUKUS, a coalition Biden worked hard to secure. He's got SK and Japan being at least tentative with Xi. Japan is now ultra cool to Trump because it turns out he can't make deals at all. SK can't trust him. How long will it be before the Aussies and NZ decide that their safety depends on some enhanced relationships with China? The US is too far away and too unreliable to arrive on the scene should China act up any further in the Pacific. (They've already menaced those countries by strutting and nose-thumbing in their spaces.) Trump and his administrative butt-clinging barnacles are going to embolden China and we'll once again hear the Republican refrain: "No one could have seen it coming."
Happy birthday! Enjoy your day and don’t read the news! I look forward to your communiques, but can give you a day off now and then.
Happy Burthday, TC. Enjoy your day.
You are a treasure. Thank you for all your work and ferocious support for We the People.
And for your particular humor that always encourages a reaction of a hearty chuckle or smirk against the ignorance of which you write.
Salud, TC.

If that study was correct - all of us should be living long long long lives, right?
Fuck yeah!

Anyway, 🥂 to another trip around the sun!
This pronouncement may be akin to "Mexico will pay for the wall".
Happy Birthday! Thanks for helping us keep our sanity.

Congratulations on a long life. Happy birthday.
Now the deaths under ICE actions are starting.
From United Farm Workers
UPDATE: we tragically can confirm that a farm worker has died of injuries they sustained as a result of yesterday’s immigration enforcement action.

Where’s some green kryptonite when you need some? Some chartreuse or pistachio colored kryptonite will do…paging Lex Luthor, paging Lex Luthor…

Tom, you gotta know they're coming after us eventually. Have a fantastic weekend and enjoy your next turn around the sun.
Yes. I think about that more frequently.
It’s certainly something to consider but I think they will demolish themselves before that happens. All signs point to that.
Probably right around October 30th, 2026.
Happy Birthday Week! Celebrate as long as you want! Thank you for sharing all the up to date inside news.. Love your posting!
Happy July Birthday, TC. If I read it right, you have my Dad’s birthday. I hope you have a lovely day away!
Happy birthday, Tom!
Wishing you a wonderful day and may all your birthday wishes come true!
Happy birthday, and how did the U.S. get so stoopid?!
Happy Birthday! Enjoy your day off from writing (for Substack, anyway!)
