I'd say, hang on to photos, articles, reports, books about Epstein and grampa shitstain. You are absolutely correct. If he were not on every page of the Epstein dossier he'd be suing everyone left, right, and center. The story is that he had Melania on Epstein's plane. Ah...what a tangled web he weaves. His mouth has never known a day without lying. DOJ under blondi has likely destroyed whatever files that had been confiscated long ago. OR someone spirited them away until a more opportune time. There will be a book one day...after the dictator's well deserved and oft prayed for death. Meantime, IMO miller and vought ( pronounced VOTE) are co-presidents and running the entire shitstore. Thanks for wading through the mess, Tom. Your hip boots are definitely getting a workout.

“Speaker Mike Johnson announced during an appearance on Fox News last Sunday that he wants to do two more reconciliation bills, one this fall and one next spring.”

Is this even an option? I thought reconciliation was limited to one bill per fiscal year. I suppose they could jam something through after they lose the midterms (because, yolo, obvy), but I’m not sure that would happen due to Senate rules. The House can pass anything it wants but there are still limits in place that limit what can be done with a simple majority in the upper chamber. I guess we will see.

Thanks for the updates, Tom. I’ve turned my *need to know everything as it happens* switch off for the summer and am trying to slow down and enjoy the sun while it’s shining - and catch up on some audiobooks. 😁

Gordon Lightfoot is awesome. I love tabby cats.

History will show you were an honest, duly outraged, and diligent chronicler of how the US overdosed on its drug of choice--media hype, Tom. This government has given us the tabloid headlines that we now must have in order to avoid near-visceral withdrawal. The boring and quiet efficiency of government in the days of yore just won't fly any longer. The Dems are really up against it unless they can get some glitter on, or unless an accumulation of disasters like the Texas flood reminds voters that government used to work quietly and usually efficiently in the background of our lives and not dominate them. As depraved as the Epstein business is and as enmeshed with it as this administration seems to be, it just won't leave us alone and give us space to pursue our private interests.

Your photos of lovely cats reminds me of how they will often play furiously with a toy, a box, a shadow or ray of light until they've figured it out and subdued it appropriately. I saw my sister's cat paw a large stiffed olive all around the kitchen floor for nearly 20 minutes and then abandon it in favor of a sunny spot on the dining room carpet. I'm sure there's a lesson there, but what is it?

As always, I appreciate your dive into the cesspool that is this maladministration, and the cat photos.

The only way Epstein killed himself was with a great deal of encouragement and assistance. I have worked in corrections at the local level, and have sat constant SW(suicide watch) on a half dozen people. I believe he was the victim of homicide, either by commission (they did it) or omission (they encouraged him).

So many topics!

Regarding the tariff chaos…

Normalization is frightening because the reporting is as if it’s simply business as usual, typical TACO (we need an antonymic acronym… What’s the opposite of “chickens out”?) -

Felon47’s aggressive edicts throw everything into a tailspin!

Lawful? Lawless? Yes, executive power under the Constitution? unConstitutional?

We seldom see ANY reference to Constitutionality… (although of course, that was the entire focus of Judge Luttig’s Fourth of July essay!) !!!

I know it’s just one of oh so many issues of this regime’s lawlessness.

But tariffs are a hot topic, and the whole scene he creates based on lies and false presumptions, and then the saga just carries on, acknowledging his unfettered actions but otherwise treated as if ANY President could or would do this. No! THIS IS NOT NORMAL! NONE OF IT IS!!!

Shall we hire skywriters (aka aerial advertising) to amplify visibility of this giant problem???

Rob Hubbell nailed it first off in today’s newsletter:

https://open.substack.com/pub/roberthubbell/p/tariffs-and-the-normalization-of?r=45vym&utm_medium=ios

Excerpt~

…Trump's tariff chaos presents an opportunity for us to gain an advantage heading into 2026, but we must educate ourselves about the issues surrounding tariffs. And the first and most important issue is that Trump is once again ignoring the Constitution.

Lost in the chaos is this significant fact: The Constitution grants the power to impose tariffs to Congress, not the president. As they say, “You can look it up.”

Taylor and Gordon Whitefoot ~ just what we need for grounding. Thanks!!!

Who didn’t know that the day chump was sworn in that the Epstein file would be destroyed. Probably that day. Our national idiocy is beyond an embarrassment. It is a threat to our survival. Sadly, the Epstein file is the least of our worries. Your litany of horrors grows by leaps and bounds. It took Dems four years to undo the horrors of regime 1 (incompetent) but it will take decades to touch on the recovery of regime 2 (strategic evil). By 2026, we may be beyond any hope of recovery. The administrative state in a productive country is large and powerful. But the destruction derby is dedicated, focused, and has many competent players. We’re not talking entropy here, we’re talking sudden and catastrophic damage. Hope I’m just a worry wart…
