Cory Booker continuing his filibuster more than 18 hours. AP is covering it (now?) but it's not captioned. watch booker.senate.gov.

I’m also watching it via AP/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?

Amazing and often bringing me to tears….”Great countries take care of their elders”…The stories about SS and Veterans and farmers (so important to keep telling those stories!)….The New Mexico Senator dancing with his mom in the kitchen…

A quick Google even Faux News is carrying it live.Maybe all those Fl/Wisconsin MAGAs are watching today!

Probably not allowed….so someone please sneak Cory Booker a double cappuccino!! ☕️

That's great. Early this morning when i learned about the filibuster from a commenter on HCR and started watching and looked around, I was disappointed to find so much media was not following it or even saying where to see it. This is a huge step forward in protesting the chaos and threat of the maladmin. Bless Cory Booker ❤️🥳👏

Any candidate for any office, state or federal , who wears confederate themed clothing or who displays confederate flags should be disqualified based on stupidity grounds. Need I say it? The confederacy was traitorous!

Thank you Tom! The dems are finally pulling themselves up off the floor! I listened to some of Senator Booker and was pleased that additional senators were stepping up to speak as well. Plus going to "red" districts to hold town halls. At last they are paying attention to Rick Wilson and writers, speakers of The Bulwark. Despite the constant war on democracy being waged by the Fascists in this despicable regime, there is good news beginning to bubble up from below. What we must all understand is that although this crowd is going to be deposed the challenge facing this democracy is deep rooted in a white supremacy, "christian" nationalist culture, which will take years and creative work for a truer democracy to develop than has been mounted in at least 50 years. Finally removing books is tantamount to burning them! Wonder if any midshipmen may spirit away these books to safeguard for a time?

Some Germans saved books as well as people from the Nazis.

We can save books people AND evidentiary receipts. On In March 12, 2025 KILMAR ARMANDO GARCIA, a Maryland Man, was 'ICED' when he was picking up his 5 year old autistics son after his sheet-metal work shift. The CZAR of the Disappeared now admits error. But, Kilmar is in El Salvador. Kilmar is not here; Kilmar is there, no esta aqui.

Victims CAN be returned as 8 women deported to CECOT were rejected by the local Dictator who would not accept women at his all-male CECOT. One of the returned women was a percipient witness on the airplane that kidnapped her to El Salvador. She overhead Guards discussing Judge Boasberg's HALT Order. The real time witness' testimony is in the Judge's sealed file.

The Judge has admitted her evidence & will rule when moment is right.

Thanks Tom, Kudos to Coy Booker. At least some of our Senators have the courage to stand up for the citizens of United States. The MAGA maggots are all so afraid of losing their power so, not matter how insane, unconstitutional, illegal, unethical the decrees foaming from trumpslimes frothy lips they obediently roll over and play dead like he good little opossums they are. I wonder what they'll do when trumpslime finally declares his dictatorship and dispenses with the unneeded Congress.

Possums are good (eat ticks bearing Lyme Disease). The MAGA maggots play dead like the conned cowards they are.

Senator Booker gives me hope. The protests give me hope. Samantha gives me hope. April 5 is coming, and that gives me hope.

Weird that I have/had cats that looked like clones of yours. Guess that gene pool is not as crazy as the dog weirdness…

Thanks for that blast from the past mention of William Safire. I used to love and hate him. I think the negative won out.

AS TO CHUMP, I have to admire the breadth of their evil. Lordy, the Nazis had nothing on them. If they hope to have the worst done by July, we are in for months of hell, that will precede living in a different country, by many measures. I hope the Dems wake up, but I am reluctant to donate my measly amounts in the fear that I will just be buying horrible emails that will bury me. Will try to give directly, but act blue is everywhere. Sadly, so are Vlad, and the oligarchs.

Alas, the US Naval Academy is blistered by the equivalent of book burners. That's how low the control freaks have sunk. If I knew a young person there at this time I'd make a point of sending her copies of the three books mentioned. I guess MLKjr., Einstein, and Jackie Robinson are now consigned to the dark market.

On the upside: On April 5th Michigan has over 20 organized protests, including a big one at Lansing, the capital and one that hopes to duplicate the annual Dream Cruise, 27 miles from Downtown Detroit along Woodward Ave. to Pontiac. They want both sides of the street lined. They may even be food trucks, minstrels, and a few '57 Chevies. Hoping for sunshine. It's time.

Regarding Sen. Booker: I have to golf clap at his taking the podium starting at 7pm, when there is no Senate business. Yes, good speechifying but calculated effectiveness? I submit, not so much.

Expand full comment

If you think speaking like this and it being on C-SPAN is "ineffective" perhaps you should go review how Newt Gingrich began his "revolution" in the House.

Expand full comment

Review Newt ? an exercise as horrible as having to look at chump.

Expand full comment

Tom, I said nothing about C-span. And yes, I did see Newt's grandstanding back in the day. May Senator Booker grab the traction that Newt got. I am only commenting on the twelve hours of 7pm to 7am that *didn't* disrupt Senate business.

The Senate isn't transacting business anyway, the GOP long ago forgot "how a bill becomes a law."

Completely agree.

It's almost 7 PM and he's still going strong. He's passed all speechifying records by congress (I know it's not a filibuster). There have been so many amazing speeches, and excellent quotations that I wish I could have made a list of. So much history! So much common sense! I hope he gets a standing ovation when it's over and everyone who spoke puts link on their senate websites. Will it get through to any magNUTS?

This is good, this is great, as a gesture. My question is: will it have legs? Will the other Dems grow a spine? Will anyone on the crazy side grow a conscience?

Twenty years ago I called the two sides brainless dicks and dickless brains. Well, now the whole world is watching.

It appears on the day following that several have realized what he just did to his reputation and position in the Senate by doing this.
