UPDATE 1: At 9:10 p.m. Senator Thom Tillis released a statement that he will support Pete Egseth for Secretary of Defense and looks forward to “working with him to rebuild our armed forces.” This means that even if McConnell votes no, Hegseth will be confirmed with the vote of Corporal Couchfucker.

UPDATE 2: At 9:18 p.m. Senator Mitch McConnell voted no on Hegseth. Corporal couchfucker will now save the nomination with a tie-breaking vote.

From the Department of I Hope I Hope I Hope: As of 7:30p.m. in Washington, Senate GOP leaders are uncertain about how Senators Mitch McConnell and Thom Tillis will vote on confirmation for Pete Hegseth tonight. If they vote no, Hegseth’s nomination will be defeated on the floor,the first time since John Tower in 1989. McConnell’s office has declined to comment and Tillis’s office did not respond to a request for comment. Tillis is up for reelection in 2026, and has faced relentless pressure behind the scenes today. Senate Majority Leader John Thune has spoken with Tillis “a few times.” Tillis has said he planned to vote to break a filibuster of Hegseth’s nomination and will support Hegseth in a final vote unless “firsthand corroborated testimony” backs up allegations against Hegseth. McConnell voted “yes” to break the filibuster yesterday on advancing Hegseth, but has not said publicly how he will vote on confirmation. Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski have announced their opposition to Hegseth. Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso would not directly answer the question was he confident that there would be enough votes to confirm Hegseth. Stay tuned - this is going down to the wire. The vote is expected at 9.p.m. in Washington. I will update this as the vote happens.

From the Department of Marco Rubio Is A Fuckwit: The State Department today suspended processing passport applications seeking the gender marker of “X” and will only process and issue passports for people identifying as male or female, in accordance with an executive order signed by ConvictedFelon34 that says US government policy is “to recognize two sexes, male and female” and that “these sexes are not changeable.” The State Department is no longer issuing US passports with thie “X” marker. Additionally, the State Department has frozen nearly all foreign assistance worldwide effective immediately afterConvictedFelon34 issued a sweeping executive order Monday stopping such assistance for 90 days. The move threatens billions of dollars of funding from the State Department and the US Agency for International Development for programs worldwide.

From the Department of The Jack-Booted Thugs Are Busy: US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents attempted to enter a Chicago elementary school Friday morning but were not allowed inside or permitted to speak to anyone inside, Chicago Public Schools (CPS) officials said. Around 11:15 a.m. local time, ICE agents attempted to enter Hamline Elementary School. CPS Chief Education Officer Bogdana Chkoumbova said in a news conference, “School staff followed CPS established protocols. They kept ICE agents outside of the school and contacted CPS law department and CPS Office of Safety and Security for further guidance. The ICE agents were not allowed into the school and were not permitted to speak to any students or staff members.” ICE denies that it attempted to enter the school. Earlier this week, acting Homeland Security Secretary Benjamine Huffman announced the end of two directives, which had denied federal immigration authorities the ability to arrest people and carry out enforcement actions in and near places such as churches and schools. They’re doing this to scare people - and it looks like they’re succeeding.
