One of these days, maybe when Kamala Harris is president, Nitwit will need some emergency help in a disaster of his own making, and the phones in the White House will be turned off.....

Please let it be so. If she chooses Shapiro as VP, however, that will never happen. Praying that she chooses Tim Walz.

I’m leaning in that direction too.

Jams Fallows posted a speech Walz gave in San Diego (just hours before the assassination attempt against Trump), to a convention of geographers of all people. Walz was a geography teacher before he was a politician. It was such a breath of fresh air to see a politician doing something other than scrounging for votes and focusing on developing knowledge (in the field of geography) to solve real world problems.

Yea, I'm personally becoming very pro-Walz. He's only a couple years older than Harris but he comes across like your favorite grandfather, also the teacher everyone liked back in high school, and that midwestern attitude "Are you sure you meant to say that weird shit, sir?"

Turns out he actually was the teacher everyone liked - when he first ran for Congress in 2006, his students volunteered and turned out to canvass and work in his campaign.

GREAT story!!! Listen, Harris campaign!!!

He is the DUDE, as long as Dudes for Harris is a thing. Strong Dudes respect women. They are comfortable in their own skin.

Walz is my first choice for the same reasons.

me too. it was the social studies teacher thing. a longtime social studies teacher is gonna be someone who KNOWS HIS HISTORY. someone who knows it WELL. and if he's a liberal Democrat, it's even better.

Walz is sharp, articulate and takes no prisoners. I love his attitude. He will eat JDGlance alive in a debate! YUM!

Walz 2032!

I think it’s so obvious that Bibi did this to stop negotiations. I don’t think anyone cannot see that. Bibi needs the hostages as much as Hamas does. In fact if the remaining Hamas leadership had the brains Allah gave geese, they would release the hostages without conditions. After that, the Israeli public just might push out the old fascist.

Wish this would show up in editorials in MSM newspapers. It won't, of course.

Read the Reuters article. They make the case pretty strongly. of course, that won't end up in an American newspaper.

I will. Yes, it's tragic that the citizens of the nation supporting Israel in its wars will never know the truth.

That's the point.

Of course.

Netanyahu must be forced to choose between killing off Hamas and its leaders or killing off all Palestinians to assure getting Hamas, but the US must not support the genocide of the latter. We absolutely must learn from our own past mistakes. Give Israel the intel and arms needed to get the bad guys, but no mass killings and no US boots on the ground. Somehow we must balance the need for Israeli intel and arms purchases against these things and not let them lure us into direct participation in their war, same as with Ukraine.

Without Netanyahu, that might be possible. He want's to stay out of jail. War is his ace up the sleeve.

Thank you, Tom, for this update. I love the name Nitwityahoo it suits Netanyahu perfectly. As I've often repeated, I fully support Israel and the Israelis - I do not support Netanyahu. In the same way I fully support my Country the United States, My President Joe Biden, our Constitution , as written, and the majority of our citizens - I do not support the moronic trumpster/dumpster or any of his fascist supporters.

In my long life, I have had idiots speak and act for me that I could hardly abide. Propaganda works.

Expand full comment

Propaganda only works if we let it influence us. Yes, Ronnie, baby was a smooth talking idiot, but I never voted for him, did you? Bush Sr was a less smooth Ronnie Baby and Jr was Alfred E Neuman in the flesh - didn't vote for them either. In a Representative Republic especially with the damned electoral college, we're stuck with what we get for 4 to 8 years. But if we allow the travesty of a fascist dictatorship to take control, we're done for.

I couldn’t agree more. No, don’t think I ever voted for Repub; would have voted for Nixon because I had liked Ike, but was too young. But JFK murder and hearing a John Bircher applaud, made me a Dem on the spot. I recognized crazy standing close to me.

I'm not on Xwitter, but I can see a few recent posts. Rick Wilson posted along the lines of if you think killing the leaders of Hamas and Hezbollah are bad, unfollow me. Yet when Trump got his ear clipped, it was political violence is bad! It's either bad or it isn't.

I repeat what I said months ago about Netanyahu, he has done as much damage to the Jewish people as the Nazis did? That is hard to do, considering the suffering the Jewish people endured at Nazi hands. What Netanyahu is doing now will reverberate into the future for centuries. He is evil and has as much blood on his hands as Hamas. The Jewish people deserve a leader with integrity, as do we. Those acting in our names can destroy the future or give us a chance to look to the horizon.

First thing, let's kill all the diplomats. Bibi has looked at the long history of antisemitism and its treatment of one minority group and says "anything you can do I can do better."

It appears to me that, with these Hezbollah and Hamas assassinations in Lebanon and Iran, Nyetanyahoo & co. are actively working against your government's publicly expressed preference that Israel not escalate matters to a regional war. In fact, he seems quite determined to drag U.S. forces into a middle-east conflict and is using the intel and technology your taxes provide his government to create one and do so.
