It could not be better expressed. Here in the USA, just days away from the midterm elections and we face the unknown - TERRA INCOGNITA - because our Democracy is more than on the ballot, it is up to the American people to know what is at stake.

Nearly 300 Republicans on the ballot in 2022 midterms have disputed the 2020 presidential election.

Last night President Biden Warned 'That ‘Big Lie’ Republicans Imperil American Democracy'

'The last time Biden spoke about threats to democracy, none of the national TV networks took it live, citing the political nature of the speech.'

The same was true last night: 'Fox showed the World Series, ABC had “Wheel of Fortune,” and CBS showed “Open Mic.” NBC aired its nightly newscast, which featured election coverage — but not Biden’s speech.'

What do the American people know about the fate of American Democracy at this very moment?

'Voters See Democracy in Peril, but Saving It Isn’t a Priority'

'A New York Times/Siena College poll found that other problems have seized voters’ focus — even as many do not trust this year’s election results and are open to anti-democratic candidates.'

NEXT STOP - TERRA INCOGNITA - THIS HAS NEVER BEEN SEEN BEFORE IN AMERICA (TC)

It's appalling that a speech by the President urgently addressing Democracy is ignored by the media.

It's appalling, but, unfortunately, it's not surprising. The media have no real interest in moderate, intelligent, cautionary speeches like the President's because they don't sell. Mr. Biden would have gotten much more coverage if he'd given the speech as a fireside chat from the Roosevelt Room or a Presidential Address from the Oval Office.

Thank goodness for MSNBC. He gave a great speech. It is disgusting that networks ignored it.

What gets me is - as Dave C points out above - this could have easily been a Presidential Address from the Oval Office, with him requesting air time from the networks in the traditional way. He didn't have to change a syllable, other than perhaps not to directly use the word "Republican."

Yes, Ellen, I agree, but as TC noted, Biden's speech simply reached the choir. Why weren't arrangements made for that speech to be on social media? Another example of poor communication strategy?! What about streaming? I'm wondering how up-to-date Biden's communications staff is with the ways he can reach the people.

I am waiting to board my flight at London Heathrow so I can vote tomorrow in Texas. Thank you for your work.

Terra Incognita. That’s where I’ve been living since 2016. It’s only gotten worse. Six long, disparaging years ... I haven’t seen much improvement. Sure. We voted in Biden... but did the corporate Democrats actually know that wasn’t enough? Playing nice with liars and thieves for the appearance of “working together”... only now, on the cusp of losing everything, have they begun sounding the alarm. If we lose, they are as much to blame. All cozied up with their big bank accounts. I. See. Red.

And, like we did in 2016, we are going to hand over the reins of government based upon a “rule” or “value” that the right-wing doesn’t respect, knowing, full well, that it is the WRONG thing to do. A placid surrender of democracy to murderous radicals. Good Bye, American Pie.

And still! Trump is allowed to roam free, stirring up insurrection. . .

Trump has shown us that we can win by ignoring the rules.

Some of us have said, Oh Goodie! and tried it out for themselves. See? Just be passionate and unbending and loud in your beliefs. Folks'll respect your passion.

I don’t really have words. It’s scary stuff. Thanks TC for laying it out.

Yes. Keeping some dark thoughts to myself, and recalling that saying of TC's about a guillotine.

I wish it was mine - it's actually Dylan , the song "It's all Right Ma, I'm Only Bleedin'."

There's an argument to be made there for sure.

Oh, it's obviously been too long since I've listened to it properly. Must do so. I have forgotten so much of the music that moved me so whe I wa young.

Continuing theme of the bullshi**ers winning the bet on there being enough ignorants among the American voter. It seems their voting approach is more akin to casting their vote for a wannabee superstar on America's Got Talent, than for folks who have serious plans to address the serious issues they actually have. Sigh.

Thanks Christine. Today I turned off the news in the car and instead listened to “Yacht Rock”. Made a fall drive much more pleasurable. The thing that’s so hard is he’s a really nice guy- just brought me my mail from the distant box. We don’t discuss the election, I think it would fall on deaf ears. You always give me hope. Why don’t they realize the hammer exists, in the form of the hammer the deniers hold over their heads? SMH.

Heard my MAGA neighbor on his phone yesterday exhorting his buddy to get out and vote. I'm not sure he was ever a voter pre Cheeto. Looks like enthusiasm works both ways.

That’s not enthusiasm, Gail. That’s desperation. Many know they’ve way crossed the line. And are desperate to get the deniers in before the hammer falls….on them.

Ogden Nash….”The door of a bigoted mind opens outwards so the only result of the pressure of facts upon it is to close it more snugly.”

Their heads are being closed in the door. That’s desperation.

"The only thing we can do is follow General Honore’s charge: turnout and vote." This is only the first thing we can do. There are many other actions we can take regardless of the outcome of the vote counting. We have a moral and ethical obligation to fight the weaponized toxic fantasyland the right has created and inhabits. By any and all means.

Blessings and love from Canada. November is world kindness day. The planet needs every kind American to vote for Democrats and democracy on November 8. In the alternative universe I chose to pay attention to there is a lot happening this week. Vanessa Nakete is also ignored by the mainstream media sadly.https://www.un.org/en/climatechange/vanessa-nakate-climate-change-is-about-people. Here are Christiana Figueres and Thomas Hübbl .https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtXhGVjbMmw. We have been living in linear time and we need to live in exponential time. So people are planning a Summit on Joy this week.https://becompassionatenl.ca/events/
