I just wish the first sentence read:

The rule of law is on the ballot in 2024, and it SUPERCEDES every other political and policy consideration!

Time for MSM to quit hedging its bets. If not they may cease existence in the form we once trusted.

Expand full comment

They will be publishing what they are TOLD to.

Expand full comment

If Trump rules, they won't exist. They're all fake news and he's stated he'll take them down.

Only as his mouthpiece.

They should be well-aware of his skill as a master revenge artist.

And just think what things will be like for unions. Teachers and professors. The disabled. The homeless. Residents of large cities. I can see him deciding to appoint friendly governors and state AGs. To override what citizens of a blue state have voted for. (He already tried that with Californias emissions standards.) and, of course, immigrants.

I think he will get the Extremes to say “anchor babies” must be born to someone legally in the US. Then he’ll monetize it. Allow visas for folks who rent his or his buddies’ properties.

THIS should be healine news in NYTimes, WaPo, Gaurdian,

Vox, all of MSM.

I had a discouraging talk with my son-in-law this past weekend. He's 63. He's never

voted. Neither, shamefully, has my daughter. Why? Too

busy "living the life" to pay

attention to the bullshite of

politics. I nearly burst into

tears.

All these months I've shared

so many Substacks and news

articles with them and they're

clueless about what Trump 24 could mean for all of us in

this country. These are 2

highly educated people!

I'm getting to the point where

I firmly believe there's dumb and dumber.😔

Oh no. Our education system has really failed us, there can be no other explanation for educated people not understanding the threats we are all facing. That's what they are counting on, people who by choice are driving 3 row SUV's, who are more worried about the price of gas than the people being butchered by the russians in Ukraine, or pick any other thing, they all apply. The cost of eggs, or maybe you don't like the way black people vote, or that some Jews go to Synagogues instead of churches. I don't know any more, I feel like I live in a country populated by lunatics, which is what you would have to be to vote for the insipid clown, knowing what we all know.

Educated people can be manipulated, lied to, coerced, and just plain stupid. A PhD, or MD gives no one immunity. I know them well. And some are old as I am.

The MDs are even easier to con, since they're told they are God.

I'm not in Europe or Asia looking at this mess we are in for the last 6 years like so many are, I know from my conversations that they are shocked that this malignancy has been allowed to fester. I understand free speech, I also understand that you can't holler "Fire" in a theatre unless there really is one without going to jail which is exactly where the insipid clown and all of his henchmen need to be until their trials are over. Amassing wealth and power can be a good thing if you use it to benefit society, if it's just for your ego, you would be well served to keep in mind that none of it passes with you to the other side, but your karma will.

Expand full comment

Seems like MSM would mention the limits to “free speech.” I have known that my whole life, but chump apparently never got the message. Or ignored it as he has every law, convention, tradition, or even decent inclination. Lots of shocked republicans and their Christian nationalist ilk if they encounter St. Peter. But then, I don’t think that most of them believe their own bs.

"We don't talk about or post or respond to anything about politics in my house or around my family." So said a heavy FB poster who married into my family. But, you can bitch all you want off FB about how fuc*** up things or your life is. They get their news via comedians and headline news services. I feel it for you.

Do people put how f**ked up their lives are on FB. Before I got banned, it was all exaggerated wonderful. Fake news all around.

Most of the complaining passes for conversation and pseudo intellectualizing about the work and "politics", as though governance and the work of government is something that no one would want to do, least of all value as good and worthy. But, yes, a lot of posting on FB is bitching, moaning, and posting goats and puppies and little kids.

We have to be prepared for a second possible and nearly as dangerous scenario, that of the GOP nominee being someone other than Trump who will appear less dangerous but who may in fact have similar plans that he/she will conceal. The GOP itself spawned and then enabled Trump, so all of them must be defeated--and soundly. That means the Dems have to teach Americans Econ 101, anti-corruption law, and dealing with ALL current and future causes of immigration because wars, gang violence and government corruption in other countries, and global warming and its effects are going to force immigration. It truly is grow-up time in America and time to shred and burn Citizens United.

If Haley turns out to be IT, she is just chump lite. All will be in for Project 2025. She might be interesting. Would love to see them squirm re women in positions of power. Immigration will be the “abortion” issue for repubs. The hate quotient is powerful and widespread. Dems don’t seem to know that, or acknowledge it.

Expand full comment

Haley's said to have been meeting with megadonors, so I suspect she will be their gal. It will be quite a race. Christie may want to be her VP, which would explain why he's remaining in the race. I still worry about Biden, and if he were to defer to Harris, that would be the most unusual race of all. Two women with East Indian parents or parent. Vivek can eat his heart out.

Neither of those outcomes is anything anyone will be discussing or even thinking about 90 days from now. Haley is not going to be the GOP nominee under any circumstances - regardless of what Charles Koch thinks - because MAGA will not vote for an uppity woman and particularly not one who looks like she comes from one of them "shitholes" El Caudillo Del Mar A Lardo warned them about. Trump is going to be the GOP nominee and there is no one who can become a meaningful Democratic nominee starting from now with 11 months left of the campaign. Just put your head down and your left foot in front of your right, then vice-versa.

Today, Terry Gross was interviewing Garrett Graff about his new work on UFO studies. She asked him about the coming election, because he had written in 2020 about the dangers posed by a defeated occupant of the Oval Office who is by any standard of reason a traitor (my words, not theirs). Graff referred to UFO's. He said there are questions about how long a human civilization survives, and that scientists use the Drake Equation, with L referring to length. He said there's no doubt that this election could reduce the length of human civilization.

This is no surprise to those who aren’t cult MAGAts. Maximum threat level is a way of life for some of us, a long-awaited victory for some greedy bastards, and a democrat plot against chump for others. There is never a moment when the battle is not front and center.

The irrationality here is both amusing, and pathetic. But I guess if the “threat” is sooooo existential, you’ll be justified to do almost anything, amirite?
