As we got into 2021, that's when DeSantis starts to really do things and influence policy re masking, closures, etc. Of course DeSantis DID try to do whatever he could to make Florida's numbers look better from the beginning.
My point is that I think ot could have been worse.
Another thing: DeSantis muted our Surgeon General until he could bring in a yes man - literally had the competent one yanked off stage during a talk about covid19.

Sounds right. DeSantis taking over after there were vaccines available is what makes him responsible for the avoidable excess deaths.
