$$$ Always follow the money.

Heritage Foundation also supports this weasel. That's

big money. Waiting for Open

Secrets to drop their next funding bomb and ProPublica

to do a deep dive.

Thanks TC.

"There is reportedly 'a mad dash of K Street denizens elbowing to get close to the new speaker.' But will corporations that publicly claim they support LGBTQ rights and reproductive healthcare — and opposed the efforts to overturn the 2020 election — bankroll Johnson's efforts to stay in power?" Well, since they are supporting a terrible hypocrite, I suppose they are just following in his filthy footsteps. GROSS!!

MAGA Mike certainly fills the known psychological profile of self-loathing gays who are in fundamentalist churches and terrified of coming out because of the end of their lives as they have known them, and the end of their social and political standing..... There are numerous psychological and sociological studies from major universities that support this view. MAGA Mike is probably "Magic Mike".....and trying to cover his inner turmoil by coming down as hard on gay people as he can.

MAGA Mike’s new spokesperson.

“ Shah, a veteran GOP operative who served in the Trump White House, also happened to spend four years as Fox’s “brand protection” expert before leaving in disgrace this past June after the right-wing network settled Dominion Voting Systems’ defamation lawsuit for a massive $787.5 million.”

So -- NO bank accounts or investments by either the "speaker" or his wife - None? That seems odd.

Expand full comment

More than "seems odd". How the heck does he get paid? I'm pretty sure Congress critters aren't paid in cash or gold bars. It is downright suspicious, I think!

I agree, read in the same article that hes paid/gets $200,000 salary. I understand its expensive to live in DC whether part of the year or not but to seemingly, not have a clear picture of his and his wife's finances? Very weird.

More of the same sh*t from the far right. Why does so much of this remind me of the 60s???

Gobsmacked by these details, TC. Beyond the beyond. Let's get this everywhere asap.

it'd be FABULOUS if I could say I was surprised. so it definitely is NOT fabulous.

isn't this how Big American Corporations ALWAYS spend the money they put aside for corporate donations? I assume it's because none of them want a vendetta with a powerful political person. in that respect, TFF was a kind of Equal Opportunity Scumbag.

and yes, this "no bank account" shit IS extremely weird.

and regarding that "interview" he wants to impose...does his need for people with some kind of "Christian worldview" (or whatever the fuck he called it) mean that he (like TS Eliot) thinks it's undesirable to have too many "freethinking Jews" around? I assume it does.

fuck him.

I don't see him being around very long.

to me, he seems like he'd be an ideal wrestling coach.

as soon as I discovered the gay conversion therapy thing, everything fell into place with one of those definitive clicks. like a fucking Leica.

what's the story of anyone you know about who has some kind of abiding "interest" in gay conversion therapy? not that it's good to paint people with too wide a brush, but uhhh...REALLY??

if you think of him as someone whose whole life is based on denying some of his deepest and most basic needs (desires, wishes, whatever), I think we have the cause of all his craziness.

which gets us precisely where we were at the beginning because what has to be fought, trashed, wrecked, destroyed is his agenda. whatever its source, it's still his agenda and he's still Speaker and it's still fucked up.

Unless they change the rule, someone in the GOP House will dropkick Johnson out of Pelosi's former office the first time he actually attempts to do something that helps ordinary Americans and shores up our security, such actions being anathema to GOPism. If he lasts until the '24 elections it will be because no one else wants the job. But there may be a bright light in Johnson's groveling before the corporations, inasmuch as the Military Industrial Complex wants Israel AND Ukraine buying armaments and war materiel from them, which is largely what they do with US funding, funneling it back into US corporations who donate to those in powerful positions. See how that works?

Expand full comment

I do have to say that most of the donations from corporations that support LGBTQ rights are basically pittances. They strike me as corporate hedging of bets at worst, and most likely a sop to those of their employees who believe in all the stuff MAGA Mike stands for.

They also said after January 6 they were going to stop all donations to those people.

Expand full comment

you are expecting consistency from a huge corporation? They undoubtedly had no idea how many employees would embrace the Big Lie. I would be much more outraged if the amounts were larger. or if their official policies of support had changed. I have no idea whether there was some sort of proxy ballot to shareholders to allow the donations to Jan 6 supporters which 99+% of the shareholders didn't even bother to read, much less vote on.

Somewhere in the Bible is a story about those who ‘doth protest too much’! Li’ll Mikey J is probably hiding his ‘insecurities aka perversions’ !

Many years ago I was told a story about two men, one openly gay and the other a burly married tradesman! The later made clear his disdain for the former! After decades of marriage, the burly guy left his wife for his male partner! Another instance where ‘he doth protest too much’!

A deacon at the "main" Episcopal church ("Cathedral") here in Charleston used to be allowed to give one sermon a year. Every year it was the same: homosexuality is bad; homosexuals are sinful; etc. Of course, years later he was discovered to be gay. Surprise, surprise. (Note: I only went to this church for one year, because my ex-husband-now-deceased sang in their -- excellent, I should mention -- choir.)
