We Walznuts can rejoice.
I love it when a politician does what I think is the right move.
Waking up to this news in my newsfeed is great.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is the right guy for so many reasons.
As an historian, I love the fact he was a history teacher. Hopefully he brings a historian’s perspective to his work in politics. I hope that means he looks at events and issues with a long-term perspective. From what I have seen and read of him, I think that’s the case.
From all I have read, he was everybody’s favorite teacher among his students. When he first ran for congress, his students volunteered to work in his campaign. I think that is a very good sign. Kids, who have no trouble figuring out who they don’t like and why, thought he was a good person to be in politics. That’s a serious vote of confidence. It leads to the fact he was one of the best-liked members of the Democratic House caucus during his six terms. He can bring that history and those friendships as Vice President, which will make him very useful for working with Congress. In politics, friendship matters.
As governor, he’s been responsible for a lot of good, solid, progressive legislation that has made life better for Minnesotans. It’s important to note that he did all that with a one vote majority in each house of the Minnesota legislature. Whatever the outcome this November, it will be close. The ability to work successfully with a small majority to implement big policy is going to be the order of the day. Kamala Harris knows how to do that from her work with Joe in the first two years of the Biden Administration, which saw the passage of some of the most important and consequential legislation ever adopted in the United States.
Over the next 90 days, he can “bring the wood” to the campaign. I’ll look forward to seeing the debate between him and Boy Couchfucker. Walz has probably forgotten more than Widdle Jimmy Shillbilly will ever know about politics.
The way he wields the word “weird” against the MAGAts, you know he’s comfortable with using the word for self-description. But the MAGAts are all convinced they’re “normal.” So using “weird” on them drives them to distraction, and all their protestations that “We’re not weird!” only serve to demonstrate clearly how weird they are. Walz is going to drive them nuts.
From the first minute I became aware of him, Walz has come across as a guy I would like to know, whose company I am pretty certain I would enjoy. The way he is with animals proves he’s a good person. All of that is absolutely crucial. The rest of the voting public will have a similar response. Particularly putting him up against the guy who doesn’t like cats.
Today is a good day! I don’t know what I’m going to do with all this optimistic enthusiasm.
Oh, yes I do. I’m going to put it to work these next three months to get the result I want.
You should too.

Walz grew on me fast. Two weeks ago I didn’t know he existed. And everything I’ve read about him confirms he’s the citizen politician we dream of. Both his back story and what he’s actually done and advocated for confirms it. This also gives me increased confidence in Harris’ judgement.
Anyone in America can imagine sitting with Tim Walz over a beer. As a retired teacher, I'm thrilled we'll FINALLY have a regular person on the top ticket. BigDadEnergy. We're going to crush them. LFG!
