This time it's a real like. Great news. Tom. I well remember the spirit of enthusiasm we felt in the 2007/2008 campaign. I was working back then and well able to give significant donations, not in the millions but at least in the low thousands. What a joyous campaign that was. My right wing relatives assuring me America would never elect a black man. My answer back then was the same as now, it's not skin color that makes you great, it's your enthusiasm to be the best that you can be, and Kamala has that by the truckloads.
This must mean Plouffe's podcast with Kellyanne Conway is not going well. I hope. I have not seen it and won't because Conway needs to be talked to in the Ladies Room for her role in normalizing lies, distortions, and Trump's madness.
Usually there is a sudden silence as several of the women back away a step or two, and one will back up to the exit door. The alpha female will finish applying her lipstick, smile broadly into the mirror, raise her eyebrows and turn suddenly to Kellyanne and ask, "Is it safe?" KC will look baffled, will look around , and will ask, "What do you mean?" "Is it safe?" will be asked again. KC, having done a quick assessment of the situation, will say cheerily, "I suppose so, " in order to warm the icy air. The alpha will then stare hard at KC and tell her that the "alternative" reality she and her likeminded fascists wish to foist on the unwitting and unwary is the very thing that will be their personal undoing, something guaranteed by the Ladies' Room Vigilantes who are on a mission to convince bad lying girls to become good girls. And she will warn KC that the LRV are everywhere, including the unisex lavs, and sometimes behind shower curtains in private homes, and KC will know them by their lipsticks poised like infra-red Sidewinder missiles. "Oh, and have a nice day if you can, Kellyanne." (That's all I've got for now, Keith.)
Back on the cusp of the feminist movement ladies' room confrontations were messier, especially the ones I saw in the girl's rooms of the Catholic high schools. But that was back when we all believed our sins and spats were washed away at Saturday night confession. Now we've all read enough spy novels to know about SR40Cs and syringes in the neck and can readily imply that we know how to use them. No pulled hair. No split lips. Tidy.
Thank you. The fact that the participants are all more or less in a line might lessen the possibility of violence, which would be much more explicit (and closer) in the men’s version which would inevitably involve the perp being surrounded, I suppose. That’s how it goes in the movies, anyway. HARRIS/I don’t give a fuck 2024. LFG!
I’ve been following you long enough and decided it’s time to pay for the privilege. This latest article is the kind we won’t read in the mainstream media, but it adds another layer to the well organized and upbeat campaign that we can look forward to.
I submit that Plouffe is one of the few of them that actually knows what he is doing, so this is good news indeed. His name reminds me of a story from that campaign.
I can't recall the name of the little old lady standing in the back of an Obama rally in some cornfield town back in the day who repeated the phrase, "Fired up and ready to go". She kept saying it and Barack took it to heart, and I think it is worth repeating now.
Agreed. We've got a lot of momentum from the voting groups that hadn't yet come aboard. In the words of Dolores Huerta: “Sí, se puede,”
Dolores Huerta is an activist who continues to fight for the rights of laborers, women, and immigrants. She is credited for coming up with the rallying cry “Sí, se puede,” which means “yes, it is possible” in Spanish, and co-founding the predecessor organization for the United Farm Workers of America (UFW), in the 1970s

I love that you end on a positive note. Older people remember when America was more optimistic, but young people finally have a chance to experience that and participate in it as well. We can do this together.
I'm not on the inside track of the DNC of course, but I have to wonder how this huge campaign news affects local election leaders. Yesterday, 80 of us (precinct 103) in my small corner of a red state received a firm, but positive and nicely worded email from our chairperson. She gave us a lengthy list of ways to get involved in this election (beyond just voting) and said pick three and email her back how we plan to help. She also said that our focus would be on independents, non-voters, and Democrats and that the numbers showed we did not need to worry about Republicans or their turnout. I am feeling the YES WE CAN today with all this encouraging news!
A shot of optimism that I can take to the bank. I plan to donate to the Force Multiplier event on Aug 7th with HCR. (Despite the fact that my virus checker flagged it as an unsafe site?????). I have to be selective, so I hope I will not regret doing that. There are a couple of others that I will donate less to and, if health permits, I plan to volunteer on Election Day. BTW, my MAGAt brother voted for Obama the first time, but since he didn’t get the change he wanted, he blamed Obama instead of McConnell’s onslaught of opposition and the tea party insanity. He has periods of lucid behavior so I may try again since he is disgusted with chump.
This feels more like the European election model of only 8 weeks of campaigning. It can be done but, to your point, in our system there needs to be a strong on the ground organization already in place. I suspect Trump started campaigning too early, peaked and then has been tanking. He thought he could tread water against Joe--- but then " along came Kamala!"
I love Your positive enthusiasm, Tom. Contagious.
Yes We Can! That is for sure!

I love your comment, "Conway needs to be talked to in the Ladies Room." Thank you, Judith, for that classic reference. You 're great!
It's amazing how so many affectations and pretentions fall away when several women are all gazing into one big mirror with big lipsticks in hand.
So true, so true.
For someone who doesn't spend time in Ladies Rooms that's a very interesting scenario. How does it typically play out, if i might ask?
Usually there is a sudden silence as several of the women back away a step or two, and one will back up to the exit door. I like that.

Why would he share anything with her. She corrupts and taints anything in her orbit.
Plouffe is great! I love watching him on nightly news.
Hang on Kathy, this is going to be a serious ride.
Indeed. Praying for Walz to be chosen as VP.
I’ve been following you long enough and decided it’s time to pay for the privilege. This latest article is the kind we won’t read in the mainstream media, but it adds another layer to the well organized and upbeat campaign that we can look forward to.

Fired Up And Ready To Go!
Here is Plouffe yesterday about the debate, “Maybe he can only handle debating someone his own age.”
I think it's been condensed to LFG!
Yes, let's bring this back.

Thanks for this EXCELLENT NEWS (and context)!! Sharing!!

Enthusiasm is affecting all the local work.

Lovely vibes.

Kamala Harris raised $310 million in July, dwarfing Trump haul for month.
As long as Axelrod stays away, it's all good.
