Todays writing by TC is comforting and refreshing; the law and the truth is solid. Foreseeable Trump tactics don't seem to work any more. Still the situation may be like the forest fire season, as is said in the article. "With Mr. Trump facing multiple investigations even as he considers yet another run for office, there are many possible sparks that could flare up in the days and weeks ahead." The lack of truth and the decay of language is like the draught in the forest, and it may not even be enough to get ahead of trump. Systematic lying and "news" under cover of entertainment seems well organized, but there is still a well informed majority, and if it comes to physical violence I think one side is very much better organized and motivated. Both sides may claim to save America, and ask God to do it, but now it is all coming down to get people to vote, and stop the systematic abuse aiming at making voting irrelevant.

The number of Americans in an alternative universe -- is it 20 or 40 million or more? -- is extremely serious. The conspiracy syndrome has hardened; most Americans watch social media and a great number watch Fox News. More Americans are accepting the use of violence. The odds favoring large scale political violence has increased. I don't find any comfort in this. In fact, I am more concerned than I was even a week ago.

'Tracking threats: More students being arrested for troubling social media posts'

'Threats are increasingly disrupting instruction across districts of all sizes and demographic makeup.'

'Students are increasingly using the speed and seeming anonymity of the internet to post threats of violence against their schools and classmates. The extremity of some of these messages is forcing administrators to close schools or entire districts, impose frightening lockdowns, or evacuate buildings while police investigate. And this is now happening almost every day somewhere in the U.S. as the threats cut across districts of all sizes and demographic makeup.' (DistrictAdministration)

Indeed very serious. The only one happy about it is Vladimir Putin, and his part in it isn't even made clear.

…but rest assured, he plays a part.

'Summary of Terrorism Threat to the United States'

'The United States remains in a heightened threat environment, as noted in the previous Bulletin, and several recent attacks have highlighted the dynamic and complex nature of the threat environment. In the coming months, we expect the threat environment to become more dynamic as several high-profile events could be exploited to justify acts of violence against a range of possible targets. These targets could include public gatherings, faith-based institutions, schools, racial and religious minorities, government facilities and personnel, U.S. critical infrastructure, the media, and perceived ideological opponents. Threat actors have recently mobilized to violence due to factors such as personal grievances, reactions to current events, and adherence to violent extremist ideologies, including racially or ethnically motivated or anti-government/anti-authority violent extremism. Foreign adversaries—including terrorist organizations and nation state adversaries—also remain intent on exploiting the threat environment to promote or inspire violence, sow discord, or undermine U.S. democratic institutions. We continue to assess that the primary threat of mass casualty violence in the United States stems from lone offenders and small groups motivated by a range of ideological beliefs and/or personal grievances.' Fern, can you post links to these reports rather than copy the report? Usually, at the site, there are additional links for people to find out information they may want as a result of reading the report. Thanks, TC

I will make the copy much shorter, TC, in the future. The link in each case provides more detail.

Thanks. It happens that there are groups and individuals out there who target sites politically and claim "copyright infringement " over "excessive" reposts. While I seriously doubt DHS would be among them, and while "fair use" is still a barrier they have to overcome, the hassle of dealing with it in general is something I'm not interested in having to do, particularly when there's an easy way to give folks the information by putting in the URL. It just happens I became aware of this phenomenon recently and yours were the only posts that do that (harmlessly to my mind, but that's different for those out to make trouble), so I posted the request there since I figure everyone will read your posts. If we all do that, we get the information and we don't let the idiots come along and try to make trouble. (And the @#$#@!! "Mickey Mouse Copyright Act" is just screwy enough to be a problem)

TC, This is an edit of my initial response to you. In the future, should I briefly summarize the report rather that copy pieces of it and then post the link, which is its URL?

You have the link right there in your original post. You do it the way you did that.

Your posts are only "harmless" where the Mickey Mouse Copyright Act is concerned, Fern. They're always helpful.

Dear TC, Thank you for your kind response to my unhappiness. In writing to a friend a few minutes ago, I saw from a distance, stepping away from myself, how fundamentally affected I am by our country's contest with evil and where it may lead. Are there words for this? Recognition of the country's circumstances is hard to live with. I was a petty piece of dust in that post, which has been deleted, and you responded with understanding.

We've all "been there" because we care as much as we do, and may well return, depending on outcomes. I've certainly felt like you did there.
