My concern with Timothy Snyder's probably correct assessment on Chris Haye's show that Ukraine must decisively defeat Russia, is that he did not take into account Russia's nuclear weapons stockpile and Putin's threat to use it. Win=Lose?

Yes, IF Putin is crazy enough to lose everything all at once. We could make it plain to one and all that our goal was to drive the Russians out of Ukraine and back to their own country, where they would be safe and unmolested, but that Russia had to pay a price for destroying much of Ukraine, and that price was the loss of all of Ukraine's territory - the Donbas and Crimea.....
There is one other consideration that makes these times more dangerous..... Both Putin and Xi Jinping in China are facing the slipping away of their military opportunities in the near future, as their populations decline and they no longer have sufficient pools of young men to man the military establishments they have now. In 20-25 years, neither country will be in a position to mount the land-based attacks they now are doing (Ukraine) or contemplating (Taiwan).....

There is the conundrum.
