Fern, I understand. I think , just speaking for myself I was wrong to complain, as I did, when TC was putting reality into words. But the combination of watching it every day and then reading it was a lot to absorb. But then I think, I am safe and comfortable at the moment, the Ukrainians are not. But the combination of watching it every day and then reading it was a lot to absorb. But then I think, I am safe and comfortable at the moment, the Ukrainians are not. Allen and Tanya had to leave their home. I now see it as mycmoral duty to keep watching, to keep the people in Ukraine in front of my eyes. It is too easy for me to turn off the TV and avoid the whole thing.
But I was understanding (or misunderstanding perhaps) your thoughts today as wondering if TC had moved to another place in his earlier thinking about the complexity of NATO's position of no direct entry into combat. I mean, how many children do we have to see killed before we do something. ( just as I wrote that I thought of the little kids of Sandy Hook and our inability as a country to stop the violent gun deaths of our own children!!!!!).
I suppose we are now in a world where we cannot stop atrocities without risking the near possibilty of ever more catastrophic ones. And, historically speaking, this is not the first, or last, time power goes amuck......just our tools of war and the technologically graphic immediacy of events have changed. Ken Burns will not have to do a Civil War retrospective on Putin's War-- we are watching it in real time.
Thank you, Fern, for being here! I too have great respect for Tom who is doing the hard work here!!!
And you're right to want something now, but we're in a situation no one has faced in a major war before. We may arrive at "damn the torpedoes! Full speed ahead!" but not yet.
Giving the Ukrainians everything they need to fight and win against the coming offensive is a must and we appear to finally be doing that.
Kim, Hello. I would like an update on your life, just a few lines would do. Allen and Tanya are in Canada and will move into their apartment on Monday. I comment less on the forum. I spent too much time there, and, by and large, rather do other work. I hope to hear from you again today or tomorrow. Cheers, my friend.
Dear Fern, living in bliss, joyful. Growing seedlings for our network of 14 food bank gardens, will be planting them soon. My 2000 Subaru croaked, so I will need to purchase a vehicle. Otherwise, spring is working hard to come to the pacific northwest, still in the 30s at night.
Wonderful news about Alan and Tanya! The spirit aches over the atrocities on-going.
Kim, Wonderful news. I love the word 'joy'. Going to the park yesterday on, finally, a real spring day was vaulted by all the little ones with their happy bodies running free with eager faces. A perfect expression of life. So glad that you came to the 'fine mess'. See his 'Something Different' that landed today. TC brings surprising gifts. It was delightful. Later with love and baskets of young vegetables. 🍎🍏

Carol, I feel as though we are twins crying for a solution. NOW, to end the evil, extreme suffering and before Ukraine is all gone.
