Those of you who have received your copy of “Clean Sweep” may have noted that in the Author’s Foreword, I write that all the people I met and became friends with over the past 50 years, whose stories fill the book, are gone.
Dear Tom, Thank for sharing Steve Pisanos' story with us on this Memorial Day holiday. We are remembering and honoring our fallen and all who served us by being part of the military. You began thoughts of my husband's service during WWII earlier than I had planned. You stirred the gratitude of the uncounted number of survivors because of the service of our soldiers, sailors, pilots...the whole shebang. You reminded us, too, of being citizens; the standard-bearers-advocates and upholders of Democracy.
Thanks TC. Such a positive story for Memorial Day - and a reminder that this is a different sort of battle for the soul of our representative democracy. May the memories this holiday stirs be good ones for you.
Thank you TC, for this riveting and important story! I just learned last month that an old and dear friend of mine, who once flew with Chuck Yeager, had died. I loved his stories, of valor and courage.. And love yours. Many thanks to my sister for having Clean Sweep delivered to my door already!
What a story, TC. Any chance to get a book directly from you?
Also I wonder, if Walter Cronkite were alive today, how would he be reporting about the Trumpster, the debt ceiling hostage crisis, the Republican party that Ike was once part of, and, oh yeah, January 6—a slap in the face to the those who fought to defeat the Nazis.
The likes of Walter will never exist in this country again, as long as Rupert stains our shores. Unless of course, he dies, is cremated and ashes scattered far and wide.
Wow! What a life story! Thanks TC! We need more such stories. In my imagination they would actually make a difference to these insane buffoons trying to destroy our country... probably not but hope springs eternal.
Thanks for this story, TC. My Dad was SSgt. USAAC during WWII. Half his time he was stationed in San Francisco, the other half in the China-Burma Theatre. His was relatively easy service, and his position as a Met Tech netted him a career with the Weather Bureau (later NOAA). He was never "out and about" on Veterans Day, but he was always solemn on Memorial Day.
Incredible story with an incredible personal connection with our TCinLA. I am constantly gobsmacked by the fact that these larger-than-life heroes who contributed so much to this country likely have relatives now who buy the bull Schitt of the traitor party. Got at least one example in my own family. You are right, we shall never see their like again. So many should hang their heads in shame on this hallowed weekend.
It should be obvious to all that an indomitable spirit can exist in any American, whether they be descendants from those who arrived on the Mayflower or came after a detour to South America.
I loved this great piece about a military life well lived and inspiring. Pisanos was truly what the motivational speakers would call a goal-oriented person. The story about how he made his way into becoming a flyer is as dramatic as how he spent his military career during the wars and his aid to his country of origin near the end.
Thanks for giving us another reason to remember our heroes and all who gave "the last full measure."

Unfortunately no, regarding books from me.

What a wonderful tribute to a great American, who would never have been if not for his own sheer determination and drive.
Thank you Tom, I would not have learned any of those details about the fascinating life of "Steve" Spiros Pisanos without your telling.

Thank you, Tom. Memorial Day, a day of remembrance for all those
who gave their very best.
Another great story TC. I suspect that Col. Pisanos' life would make a highly readable biography. Have a great weekend.
He wrote his autobiography, "The Flying Greek."

Thanks Tom, and I bet he was self-effacing about the whole thing. Wishing you an enjoyable Memorial Day weekend.

Wonderful biography. Thank you.
💙Wow ! Want an amazing, uplifting story. I would have shared with my WWII vet parents.
Grateful they are not here to witness the American Nightmare….
God damn illegal immigrants. And thank God for them! 👍🏻
Thanks TC. I needed this heartfelt story today.
