I've read it twice, and I'm going to read it again tomorrow.
A nation's economy does not run by itself. Millions of people work hard every day to keep the economic engine running. Even when everybody is doing their best to keep it running, we've had recessions and depressions. We would like to believe that no American would deliberately sabotage our economy.
Remaining genteel and playing by the rules has now become a sucker's game. Elected Dems need to deal in kind with the GOP/magas. If the Dems have dirt on them, expose it. And rub that dirt all over the evangelicals who have been giving God and religion a bad name since they made common cause with our very own Caligula, who doesn't just want to remove top military brass but to also replace them with horses' asses.
Yes, I just read and it's a great take. I won't repeat all my comment, just the "who could know" 'All of us, Trump told us himself loud and clear on television, we just chose not to believe him'
For what it's worth, I've pasted an abbreviated comment on Tymothy Snybers post below.

Interesting how surprised everyone is after watching those who believe democracy and the notion of "All men are created equal" are flawed and untrue for the past one hundred years, within living lifetime, attempt to detroy it all. The same oligarchy of industrial capital backed the Nazis. They saw Trump as their new face when he proved his white supremacist bonafides in attacking Obama's birth and the howls of white support and rancor he fomented.
How we did not build up resistance to this ongoing progression of attempts to eliminate democray is on us. Our parents fought and died in WWII and maybe we became complacent after Ike and then the Civil Rights movement and ending the war on Viet Nam.
The Hitler backed coup of 1939 should have kept all of us awake. Our parents saw it. Senator Robert Taft and other elected Republicans fomented and led it.
SITTING REPUBLICANS. Here they are again, as they have been since the New Deal.
Trump gets the handshake, just like Hitler did when he was elected.
The SES are the top tier of the civil service. There is a few pages buried in chapter 3 of Project 2025 where one can read about them. the section entitled,
"Creating a Responsible Career Management Service" bottom of page 79
Thank you Tom for reposting Prof. Snyder's piece. This particular section hit hard:
"Imagine that you are a foreign leader who wishes to destroy the United States. How could you do so? The easiest way would be to get Americans to do the work themselves, to somehow induce Americans to undo their own health, law, administration, defense, and intelligence. From this perspective, Trump's proposed appointments -- Kennedy, Jr.; Gaetz; Musk; Ramaswamy; Hegseth; Gabbard -- are perfect instruments. They combine narcissism, incompetence, corruption, sexual incontinence, personal vulnerability, dangerous convictions, and foreign influence as no group before them has done. These proposed appointments look like a decapitation strike: destroying the American government from the top, leaving the body politic to rot, and the rest of us to suffer."
Too bad President Biden did not break with convention and while shaking the felon's hand had stated ,"Looks like putin managed to get you elected again, Donald. It must be putin's plan to use you to destroy your own nation. Your voters have been fed a crock, Jack!" Then he should have stood up and walked out.
Yes that would have been the "right" thing to do at that point. Why not? Why not give the media something to be "shocked" about - MAGA to point to & rant. Oh yeah, and for Susan Collins to be confused at!!!
Because Biden still believes in the political system where both parties co-existed!
Thats gone now - IF there is to be actual pushback against this "new" existence,
someone SOMEONE or many someones need to actually NOT "bend a knee"!
That includes both parties. Remember the word BIpartisan?
These days, I find myself holding my tongue at the mere mention of what others should think or do. Like a bird watcher who's grown tired of pointing out the obvious cardinal, I've stopped gesturing toward the daily headlines, the policy debates, the endless stream of talking heads that float across our screens.
Even the traditional family arguments that once seasoned our turkey and stuffing have lost their appeal. I sit quietly now, watching steam rise from my coffee cup while others wage their yearly battles over drumsticks and political convictions.
There's a certain peace in this surrender, like watching storm clouds gather from behind a window. We are all passengers on this lurching ship, and no amount of shouting at the horizon will change its course. The American dream I once believed in – that shining city we all imagined ourselves inhabiting – has revealed itself to be something else entirely: a funhouse mirror reflection that grows more distorted with each passing day.
What strikes me most now is not the noise but the silence that follows the realization that we were wrong about something so fundamental – like a child discovering that the floor beneath their feet isn't quite as solid as they'd always assumed.
It’s all even more horrific when the plan is explained so intelligently and laid out step by step, in context. Makes me all the more determined to Resist.
Thank you, TC, for putting Snyder’s piece here today!
It seemed "on point."
It was the second time I read it today, “on point” is on point. 🙏
I've read it twice, and I'm going to read it again tomorrow.

I believed him.
Me too. JD, me too.
He lied non stop about Dems, but he couldn’t keep his mouth shut about the evil he had in mind
Agreed.

How about the Coup of 1933. Prescott Bush helped with that one.
Thanks TC. I read it earlier. Absolutely essential reading!!! Resting but ready for the barricades, so to speak.
TY! It is catastrophic!
Great article Tom, thanks. Project 2025 will wreak havoc on the Senior Executive Service (SES), page 79ff.
The SES is the Senior Executive Service, GS 15 level government employees and above.
I assume that page 79ff is a reference to something in Project 2025 on page 79, subsection ff.
Damn the leaders, full steam ahead
Actually 79ff indicates page 79 and the pages following.
Thanks! I had no clue about that format!
Bob, I don't get your reference. Or your point. Help me please.

That political world went out the window in 2016. It got its start with Reagan.
Thanks for posting this. I read it earlier today, and am glad for the reread.

This is a brilliant and terrifying article. I forwarded it to several friends. Thanks for reposting Tom.
Thanks TC. This was recommended to me many times today, I am glad you posted it.
Wow. So powerful. And accurate

Hell9 Fascism. Goodbye Columbus. ... Kennedy has a worm. America has a snake. Promises made ....
