There are just 24 total congressional legislative working days between now and the end of the US government’s fiscal year on September 30, and only 12 legislative days before the monthlong August recess; congressional leaders have a huge agenda, especially on FY2024 spending bills.
There is not one republican in Congress who is a loyal American. How do I know? Because they still belong to the republican caucus. If Lisa Murkowski were truly the "moderate" she thinks she is, and if Mitt Rmoney was truly the patriot he thinks he is, they would switch to the Democratic caucus. It's that simple.
Professor, you're correct, as usual. However, as many have pointed out, the Senate seems to act more sane than the House. Tubberville, Blackburn, Manchin and Sinema are irritants, but hardly as insane as the Coo-Coo Caucus at the other end of the building.
I feel like the people living in a valley who are facing 1000-year floods every 10 years....the 2016 election was existential (but no one listened to Hillary about the courts), then the 2020 election was existential (because it certainly was) and now we have another existential election (which it is) coming up in 2024..... The only positive thing in this whole mess is that the House Republicans have enthusiastically lived down to the Democratic predictions of their wretched inability to govern.....just maybe enough of the center and center-left/right will look at the dumpster fire that is the House and say "let it go....." And for those who say (in BOTH parties) that Biden is too old and too frail to run again, look at what he has gotten done with the smallest political margins in history.....
I support President Biden's position on Ukraine and NATO because we really don't want to get into an actual war. But a teeney-tiny part of me thinks--if we WERE in a state of war, the actual treason laws would apply and we could do some serious mopping up of some of these bozos.
As long as fascists, bigots, and Christian dominionists like Alabama's Senator Tommy Gooberville are allowed to walk among us without wearing their true labels they will continue to be an insidious toxin in the bloodstream of the USA. They must be called out at every turn, scorned, shunned, laughed at, and reviled rather than given media credence and undue air time. Social pressure must come to bear, forcing them to coalesce in a corner where they can be seen for what they are rather than being diffuse among the population which just gives them cover and some measure of acceptance. Everything that brought down Joe McCarthy should be put in play. (I know, his alcoholism was no small factor, but in the case of the Freedumb Couscous, the brain cell killer is their willful ignorance.)
I acknowledge that my chosen tactics are divisive, but these clucks have been hiding behind our general civility rather than practicing any of it themselves. Besides, their ilk is not persuadable, so let's not keep bothering. They've already taken over the vacuum left by the absence of the late night comics and writers who were calling them to task by just being the daily freaks that they are. Thus the dangerous normalizing continues.

So he supports cutting social programs and govt shutdown….but not Barbara Lee’s bill reallocating 100 billionI in defense budget ( amount estimated NOT! spent on defense) to where American people need it the most. His response to my request to support ….We should spend the 100 billion ( THAT WE DON’T NEED FOR DEFENSE)…on Defense..
