It turns out that Burton Blume - son of Wilbur Blume, the 340th Bomb Group’s documentarian/bombardier who made “Training in Combat,” the film starring Joseph Heller as “Pete, the replacement bombardier” - sued the National Archives in 2014 to get them to release the remaining film of the movie.
There are nine clips, averaging about 8 minutes each, of “establishing shots” for the story to be told in the documentary. Besides lots of shots of the guy “nobody took a picture of in World War II,” these give a very good visual record of what was going on in the group on Corsica. It’s visuals for the novel.

I dont know if many here will remember Dean - one of the commenters for months - she became an online friend for me for the past few months. I just received an email from her son letting me know that she had passed away in January. I hadnt heard from her in several weeks & had no answers to my emails. Perhaps you remember her fondness for her grandson. She will be greatly missed.
Thank you for opening a window into the National Archives.
