I fully doubt many on the right could tell you why that appeals to them, and that foot in the door is brilliant. It’s not like they have ever been in control of their emotions….
Thanks Tom, I love your suggestion that he use his attack on his very own draft dodger. And frankly nothing done in Iraq is worth bragging about. It was an illegal war (under the Vienna code) in the first place - Iraq was a sovereign nation that did NOTHING to provoke us. No matter how many denials we hear, we went there for the OIL. Instead we stood by while ancient museums were robbed of their 3500 year old artifacts. Iraq was destroyed for no valid reason and we lost a few thousand troops who died for NOTHING. You'd think we would have learned our lesson after Vietnam.
Sadly, both of them along with 45 may be eligible for burial among the truly honorable souls in Arlington. Every time I think of that I want to gnash my teeth until I start a forest fire.
Iraq was also a patched-together "nation" that was being held together by Saddam Hussein. Not pretty, but it more or less worked -- and kept Iran occupied at the same time. "Regime change" blew the whole thing apart. Here's hoping the "experts" have finally figured out that "democracy" can't be imposed from without -- it's hard enough to maintain here at home. Although, true, we did figure out that "democracy" is code for "making it safe for U.S. investment."
Tim was Special Forces qualified, I saw him wearing a hat with our symbol on it, De Oppresso Libere which means liberate the oppressed. That means he went through the USA JFK Center for Military Assistance at Ft. Bragg. He went through it long after I did, but it was the premiere training the Army offered. I had National Guard soldiers in my classes when I was there. He's a stand up guy no doubt about it. 👍👍💥
The vitriol from the GOP is wearying to the public. Most voters are going to tune out TFG and his sidekick long before the elections. Just the diehard MAGAs will be left
This is what the problem is with police in America. The job they are given is attractive to too many of the "wrong kind" of people. As a guy who used to teach at a police academy said, you get "the playground bullies and the people who were bullied by the playground bullies."
Not to mention this fragging of a celebrated veteran. My last duty station was in the Marines, as a Navy doc. What JD needs is a proper Navy blanket party….
Bill Mauldin wrote that their term of endearment for REMFs in Italy was “garritrooper”…too far forward to wear ties and too far back to be shot at. Sounds like vance qualifies for that sobriquet in spades. But still he did better than Commendatore Bone Spurs…
I can’t help but assume that Vance, in his post with the Marines’ Public Affairs Office, must have been very much like the character Commander Neal Owynn, played with oleaginous delight by Patrick O'Neal, in the movie “In Harm’s Way.”
On CNN today, the host said that the order for the deployment for Walz' unit to go to Iraq or Afghanistan (I forget which it was) did not issue until Walz had been out of the Army National Guard for 2-months. As I was listening to Vance make these accusations, I could just feel that it was dishonest, that it didn't sound right. Sure enough, more lies. Thanks for jumping on this, TC. One of the biggest mistakes John Kerry ever made was not to react immediately and forcefully to the Swift Boat Veterans attack on him. He let that poison stew for weeks before addressing it. Too late! People had way too much time to be sucked in by the repetition. Answer lies immediately with not just the truth, but by shining a light on the hypocrisy, like TC did, mentioning Trump's military dodge. I remind everyone - we've never seen the medical record or X-rays showing heel spurs. I am an internal medicine physician, and I know quite well that heel spurs are often without symptoms, and are usually managed quite easily with steroid injections, heel cups and/or a minor surgical procedure, which would be done if they didn't respond to conservative care and were interfering with walking, none of which was ever mentioned. According to a HuffPost article 11/3/2016, the U.S. Army lists heel spurs as a potential cause for “rejection for appointment, enlistment, and induction into military service.” Note that: "potential" cause. It depends upon whether the heel spur (with associated inflammation of the related part of the sole, called plantar fasciitis) “interferes with the satisfactory performance of military duties, or prevents the wearing of military footwear.” There is no evidence of any kind indicating that any heel spurs Trump had would interfere with military duties or the wearing of military footwear. Besides, per the HuffPost article, Trump called his heel spurs "minor" and "temporary." Knowing what a self-serving liar Trump is, and his scorn for the military, I call bullsh--." So, the hypocrisy of Vance questioning Walz' military service while worshipping the ground Trump walks on is repulsive.
Nothing is sticking and they seem to be running out of juice. I think the couch line yesterday must have gotten to JD.
Oh yeah.
I loved Walz's very brief gesture below the rostrum and sotto voce "You see what I did here?".
In perfect dad joke-style
Subtle but obvious for anyone paying close attention.
I fully doubt many on the right could tell you why that appeals to them, and that foot in the door is brilliant. It’s not like they have ever been in control of their emotions….
Something is probably sticking to the couch.
Because of the plastic couch cover encasing it.

We would have, if a pair of Vietnam draft dodgers hadn't been Pres and VP.

Yup.

Glad you mention that Saddam kept Iran occupied. Now the pooch is screwed.
Obama tried to fix it, and then the Destroyer did what he does best.
He did indeed. We can’t keep up with all the ways they have made our lives worse than they were. And MSM doesn’t even try…

Glad you noticed that.
Thanks for this Dick.

I sure hope so. My retired cop cadre is doubling down on the garbage.

Cops are hooked in to insanity much too often
Can’t “like” this, but Tom has a great fact check here! Keep the faith! 💙

Over the fantail.

Thanks Dennis, that's the Mauldin comment I was looking for.
You can't make this shit up, but they do.
I laughed out loud.
But they do, over and over and over
And that's what sticks with those whose only learning style is by rote, the magas.
Learn??? Some never do
Good grief, Tom! I can’t keep up with you today. You are on fi-yaaaaaa!

I fucking hate J D Vance. He is a pathetic sack of lies and insults.
Over two weeks in and the R's still have nothing. They are losing their touch, and I'm here for it!

Written by my mentor, Wendell Mayes, former FDO on the Essex 1944-45.

Thank you for the science and nuance behind this. Very helpful!
TC, you are 🔥 today. Keeping me sane (allegedly).
You're very sane, Ally.
It seems like our landlord is on a bit of a roll today.
Roll it TC. 👍
