The only thing slowing them down is that according to Paul Krugman, the government systems are ancient and based on COBOL which no one under 60 understands.

They'll kidnap an old programmer and make him get into the system.

Sadly, you’re right. Actually, I heard Heather Cox Richardson say today some of the employees were helping the “kids” so they wouldn’t destroy the system.

Thanks, Tom. This is even scarier than it looks, My first job after 29 years in government employment was testing newly written computer programs for glitches and errors. Because of my in depth knowledge of Social Services Programs I was allowed to write my own test scripts and test them. I was given access to the standard testing platform (also referred to as environment) and a more sensitive backup platform, but not the live platform. The company for whom I worked was given a rush job (4 weeks) I was assigned as the only tester to the Developer Programmer. I finished my testing and wrote a detailed report of approval. The program went into the "live" system Sunday Night. On Monday morning we were flooded with phone calls. Our new 'fixit' program had caused the system in 32 California Counties to crash. Why? Because the company had failed to update their backup test environment to mimic the current live environment and a small coding error in the new 'fix' crashed the entire system.

I am giving this example to explain why the computer engineers, developers, and programmers in the Federal Treasury Payments division are terrified of what damage can come from "small" programming unauthorized, untested changes made to a computer system as important to America as the Treasury payment system.

And I do consider this treason. There is little to prevent Elmo Muck from diverting the entire 6 trillion US dollars to himself.

Totally agree. In 50 years of assorted computer experience (starting with COBOL)< I have NEVER seen a program work perfectly on day 1.. Hence Beta testing.

Would Marko Elez need to be an anti-social basement dweller to be employed by Musk? It might be a recommendation but is it a requirement? It would be interesting to see Marko’s employment contract with Musk. NDA included?

Thank you for this detailed summary, TC. You are a treasure.

"Anti-social basement dweller" has always been the primary recruitment point for Silly Con Valley.

What I should also have said, TC, is, although I personally enjoy most of your colorful descriptors of the evil ones, this time it was just the facts, and so it is ready to forward to people who would dismiss information you present unless I remove the potentially loaded or offensive language first.

Looking at the wholesale destruction being visited on our government and way of life, the thought occurred to me that out of this we might get an answer to the gun control problem. If the oligarchs do take over, they cannot allow the bottom 90% to keep all those guns - that would be dangerous..... So I'd expect that eventually there would be a gun buy-back and then a gun confiscation, with the people limited to bolt-action rifles, small revolvers and double-barrel shotguns, as many in Europe and Asia are limited now. Several commentators have said in posts that when gun control and confiscation came, it would be from the right, not the left.....

Getting real ???!!! WE allowed this and now screaming and raging when the outcome was smacking us in the face. The Democrats left the building the minute Biden ran for reelection. Trumpsters never took their MAGA hats off. This is Trump and Elons playbook.

So I get that Trump world wants to stop making payments notwithstanding Congressional appropriations and to also simply cut off payments to individuals for miscellaneous revenge reasons. But surely they can do that with the existing code and employees (on pain of dismissal, death, etc.). But why this new code layered over? Remote access? Future Dr. Evil ransom schemes? This is just wrong, sci fi shit. Where is Bruce Willis when we need him? And maybe the poor souls who generally work there shouldn’t cooperate? Just let these kids crash the system? I know it would be awful but this is awful too. Also… doesn’t this embedding of new proprietary Musk code indicate that Musk et al., doesn’t expect it to ever be available to a Democratic administration? Very evil.

What else are the doing with all that data? Why did they attach servers to it? Numbnuts can update code without attaching a server, so what is the purpose of doing that?

The answer is pretty clear to me - to take that data and sell/use it for whatever nazi fuckery they want to do. In theory that could withdraw money from any individual's bank account too.

This was a premeditated data breach, but who is going to arrest them? The FBI? The US Marshals who enabled them to force their way it?

Paul Krugman suggested today that most government systems run on old servers and in old languages like COBOL, which Melon Husk's kids probably don't know.

Why should the magas be the only ones to get a pass for making threats to priests, congress reps, judges, investigators, etc.? We have the names of these cyber commandos who work for Musk and Trump. Musk is said to be in high dudgeon over Wired's release of the names of the six squad.

Yesterday, I was thinking that no one would buy this scenario as fiction if somebody wrote such a script. Muskrat is right that there were young people on board at NASA in the 60’s. I was one, not a science nerd but there were employees of all ages and ethnicities (including the “hidden figures”). They were working within the system and learnings. Not hackers attempting to destroy the work and answering to a moronic maga muskrat. He is vile as well as evil. And has not a clue as to the things he doesn’t know. The MSM is ignoring this catastrophic idiotic chump effort to destroy our world. The reason is that the old folks would get out their pitchforks and rampage. Keep telling the tale.

I am reading more content from msm as well as ABC Nightly News. I spent the last two days calling senators and representatives including my Maga bunch. This is a coup of our Treasury by an unelected Nazi sympathizer billionaire. He's crazy. The thing is if it was a Democrat president and a white citizen billionaire (Soros?) did what Musk has done they would be collectively screaming and on right wing media. And what Democrats should be doing is screaming "WHITE PEOPLE, MUSK IS STEALING YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY!!!" I tried to call the WH comment line ten times. Each time it was "sorry can't take your comment at this time".
