I like the analysis, with one caveat. I don't think there has been a Democratic presidential candidate in my lifetime, including Bill Clinton, who enjoyed campaigning more than Joe Biden. And I think he still does. But he no longer can show it the way he once did.
Reading this today, a few days later, caused great affection to well up in my heart. Lawrence O’Donnell’s piece that there is no other politician in history like Joe Biden tells such a beautiful story.
Thank you! I know the name Charlie Pierce… My horizons are expanding continuously! Thanks again. Clicking on the link now. ~~ oops, for subscribers only, but I’m usually pretty good at figuring out a workaround. thumbs up here.
“Sell the brownie, not the recipe”… That line — a wise admonition— definitely jumped out to me yesterday when I read it!!! Commenting before I’ve even read your post here!
Not sure to what writer Joe is referring “the failed policies of the past”! Accomplishments by Biden administration exceeded all expectations by a very wide margin!
What he means is what he talks about in other posts - that we are too much wedded to policies of the past that didn't work then and don't work now. Joe's work is primarily in the field of nuclear disarmament.
Kamala for president. President Kamala Harris has a nice ring to it.
I'm still in shock. Kamala was my first choice for in 2020.
I was hearing from friends that their kid, 20ish, and all their friends were not going to vote, because they didn't like two old men. Climate change was one of the issues of which they expressed concern.
Kamala gives these young folks, many of whom are first time voters, a feeling of connection with the government.
A quote from a strange place. Napoleon Bonaparte . “Nothing is more difficult, and therefore more precious, than to be able to decide.” Well, seems that repubs want to take that ability away from so many of us. Does anything else need to be said. That should settle it.
Joe C’s substack you suggested wisely is music 🎶 for my heart. He’s correct about her ability to speak with catch fire images and phrases. Thank you Tom on the West coast from Samm on the East… waving.
Let Kamala keep selling the better future that has people nodding at one another on the street, while the "American carnage" guy keeps peddling the stuff that keeps people in their bunkers. The "Movin' On Up" message resonates with the majority. But I do hope she tones down the laugh somewhat so she doesn't sound unserious, and please more photos with the troops to showcase our women warriors.
We are NOT going back!!!!

If you read Charlie Pierce, he really laid it out as well: https://www.esquire.com/news-politics/politics/a61699708/joe-biden-step-down-speech/

This is a new day, one to feel really good about. And hopefully all the rest that follow will be the same.

Let's get to work.
Let's make some history.
I'm really glad you're here Bob. Vietnam vets kick ass (especially Marines). :-)
Vietnam era vet. I wasn't deployed. I am a third generation Jarhead. My dad was a Drill Instructor in 1945.
That you differentiate is important. You were still there.
