According to this far right radical religious group AKA Supreme Court, the states can’t control guns, but can control a woman’s uterus. This has been a long time coming as you said TC from Sheldon Whitehouse and the dark money poured into the politicians and their designated picks for the Supreme Court. They think they have won but we will not be their handmaidens/incubators. We are an angry group of women and will stand up and fight!!

You know, Karen…I am not quite sure that any man can understand the depth of emotion that women feel today. A depth embedded in centuries of repression. A depth imbedded in the memory of the double X chromosomes.

Well, the good news is……that depth is our strength. If there is a judge or moneymaker or political cabal that actually thinks they will wrest our freedoms based on 5 assenting votes from 5 judges? Who, last time I checked are human beings and not deities?

Ummmmm, no.

It’s not about abortion. It’s about who says now that a woman may attain that procedure safely, if at all. It’s about women making reproductive health decisions without interference from political agenda. It’s about men not having to travel across states to exercise their reproductive freedom. But women must?

Let’s keep the messaging correct as we go to the polls. We are not going to be relegated to second class status. Women actually are the majority in this country so someone please make it clear to me how minority rule once again is muscling away freedom. Religious liberty and theocrats, my ass.

And by the way…America overturns Roe v. Wade but cannot keep infant formula on its grocery shelves? Pshaw.

Superb, Christine. You have expressed so well the feeling of many women. We are enraged. Some are understandably in despair, but we can support them and lead them into action to restore our rights. This shall not stand.

Very well said Christine! Thank you

Finally the truth! The Koch’s don’t really care about limiting choice and access for womens health. Their money was spent in conjunction with the Religious Right, to force a decision that would lead to the dismantling of the EPA as Federal enforcer. This leaves states to ‘enforce’ their own set of environmental ‘protection’ laws and regulations. Get out a map. Just locate the refineries and petroleum-chemical plants owned by the Koch’s. What states are they in? The ones where Abortion is now illegal. To overturn Roe with a states rights argument, is to dismantle the EPA, and give power to big oil and the few that profit from it, at the expense of a clean environment, at the risk of safe working conditions at petroleum chemical plants and refineries, at the detriment of Public Health.

Exactly right - throw the rubes a bone and get what they want in all the SC rulings that don't make the front page.

I suppose Clarence can say that since "petroleum" is not mentioned in the Constitution, there should be no laws pertaining to it at all. Isn't that the way his sick mind works?

Did you ever watch any of the Jack Reacher movies? I woke up this morning dreaming of my own version, but with me being Jackie Reacher and going after the enemy - the Stench Bench. I WON!

I was trying to express to a male friend yesterday how angry women are and how very little some men possibly understand the depth and breadth of that anger (he does.) I told him that Mama Bear was awake now and the Stench Bench better watch out. I just hope things don't spiral out of control with all this anger. Jackie Reacher needs to win, but in her own Mama Bear way.

I'd thank God for American women, if God's name hadn't been so widely abused in this context!

If there is a concern about ageing populations, there could not be anything more stupid and inefficient than banning abortions.

What happens to the couple who learns their unborn child has terrible problems and can not live a normal life. Must this child be brought into the world to suffer forever? Think of the lives destroyed.

I have a "solution." Send all the medical bills and the child itself to one of the Stench Bench. Leave it on the doorstep of Amy. Let Kavanaugh pay the hospital bills.

Anyone else feel as if they are living in a Margaret Atwood novel?

So many questions as to where this regressive, repressive and oppressive "decision" will lead. To what degree will sanctuary states play a role? How will "Gilead" states respond? What will major corporations like Salesforce do? Will there be some sort of exodus of companies and people from Gilead states? Will there be economic pain for Gilead?

It was reported that TFG has said privately that this decision will be "bad for Republicans". TFG is a monster but he does have some political savvy. Will this insanely radical reactionary moment motivate the Independents and the Non Voters (Hubbell suggests they are the majority eclipsing Democrats and Republicans) to vote for Democrats in November? Is this the call that wakes up the sleeping majority? Could this be the tipping point for those silently complicit Republicans who only put up with this nonsense because they wanted lower taxes and less regulation?

And how does a true "libertarian" feel about such a governmental invasion of privacy?

Could it be that things just had to get this bad before we could marginalize the reactionary minority?

A number of my recently married same sex friends who have hidden away from politics may have just heard the alarm go off. They should. They're next.

What about Clarence and Ginnie? How convenient of him to leave mixed race marriage off the table.

Very important perspectives here, Tom. The artificiality of the anti-choice movement, all in service to the limitation of democracy to a choice set of “betters,” needs to be better understood by all.

Thank you TC; all points spelled out and intelligible, in all its appalling details. Really signing the name of your substack! - Maybe Sweden should be grateful to Turkey for not becoming an ally of this not so united states, playing under the table with Russia, or in any case in service to Putin and his vision. However, the marauding reactionaries are not fully there yet, and they have not quite imagined the consequences of their doings, as it seems.

So these guys have been warning us of the "Dark State" and all the time they have been creating it for our pleasure and bemusement ... in plain sight. Clever. If I name it the enemy, I can get the hordes to believe and once they do so, I revile the other until, whipping back the curtain of Oz, they come to realize their bestowed power and call it something else like, say, Republic Reclaimed. Thusly, like a god, the Dark State remains the unknowable threat just outside the gates of the Republic. why are we wasting our time on reasoning, facts, proofs, principles, virtue, truth, when magical thinking is the more real and very powerful weapon?

Sorry, I have a quibble, TC. I think much of that should be attributed to Dick Dirbin. Chris Hayes is not the Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

You've misread. Chris was saying that on his show. If he was quoting Durbin, more the good for Durbin. Sorry if my writing wasn't clear there.
