So, this morning at 10:30, all of a sudden the internet stopped working at Le Chateau du Chat. Calls with ATT and their tests had everyone convinced it was a problem with my gear, and the earliest I could get a technician was next Tuesday morning.
And then of course the most momentous day in the 2024 campaign happened five minutes later.
What to do, what to do? I spent the afternoon reading Sir Max Hastings’ history of the Cuban Missile Crisis (really good - you’ll find out all sorts of stuff you never knew before). And then went and signed postcards and met our new congressional candidate George Whitesides at the local Swing Left.
And came home to find a “green board” on the modem. Hurrah!
There’s obviously a lot to say about today. I got a lot of good information at the meeting. I’ll post later tonight.
Just off the top, it looks like we aren’;t goingto get a replay of 1968.
Act Blue reports as of an hour ago that today was the biggest grass roots fundraising day in Democratic Party history - pushing $40 million in small-dollar donations since the announcement.
Also, many of the major donors who had cut off donations in the past two weeks have turned the spigots back on, for Harris.
Nobody appears to have a sufficiently big ego problem that they would challenge Kamala Harris. All the usual suspects are endorsing her candidacy.
As one friend over at the meeting said, President Biden can spend the next 100 days taking care of the country, while Kamala Harris can spend every day kicking Trump’s fat ass.
Given that Kamala Harris was my first choice back in 2020, and how she has grown into the office sincebeing elected, I think we’re going to be in good shape.
I am officially withdrawing any and all negative thoughts and comments about anyone in the party, for the term of the campaign to November 5. Let’s all work the oars in the same direction.
We’ve got a country to save in 100 days.

It may have been the best possible day to lose the net. Some thoughts:
If you have Twitter access, check out The New York Times Pitchbot. He has been even more brilliant than usual.
If I were Joe Biden, I would call Barack Obama and say, "Barack, man, I love you, and it's going to be great working with you to elect Kamala. But first, I did want to say that you did a hell of a job holding Congress for us in your off-year elections and then cementing your legacy with your successor in 2016, so why don't you go %*&# a rolling donut?"
Interestingly, the Clintons had been for continuing with Biden, and endorsed Kamala about 2 seconds after Joe did. Meanwhile, Obama and Pelosi want to play kingmaker.
Nepo Baby Sulzberger and Joseph "All Journalism Is A" Kahn didn't get their wish, because they wanted to be able to keep attacking Biden.
OK, that's out of my system. Now let's elect the ticket of Harris and Whoever!
Now that Biden has dropped out, he’s free to do something now that SCOTUS has ruled on immunity for Presidential official actions, so why not go all out? Nothing to lose now and poke the GOP where it’ll hurt, to give the ratfuckers what they deserve…
