The next two weeks constitute the 80th anniversary of the proof that an Atomic Bomb worked, with the test explosion at the Trinity Site in New Mexico on July 16, 1945, the discussions of the war situation and the impossibility in invading Japan, which led to President Truman’s decision to use the bombs against Japan, and the two missions on August 6 and August 9, which led to the myth that has grown over80 years that “the bombs ended the war,” which in fact they did not.
