Yes, keep at it!

Sending good vibes as you work your way through your 6 appointments.

Happy Mother's Day to all who are mothers, and all who were FORTUNATE enough to have true loving and nurturing mothers and/or mother-figures.

While everyone has a mother, not all benefitted from one who actually loved their offspring, which is something that can get lost in the hoopla surrounding the holiday.

I was blessed to have an amazing mother. She was my best friend until I became her mother...and it was hard but I miss caring for her every day. The sweet memories never fade. She was an amazing Grammy to my girls too.

Sunday's topic of the day. I take it you - like I - are in the latter category?

Well...my mother had a TERRIBLE childhood. Father abandoned the kids after her mom passed, was taken from the Chgo area orphanage to a foster home in Philly, to be basically a slave and where the man of the house abused her. Kicked out by the woman when she graduated HS. Came back to Chgo thanks to her sisters/half sisters.

She struggled with major depression at a time when mental illness was a forbidden topic. She did her best, but as she herself said "it's hard to love when you were never loved". I cannot remember a single time being hugged by her. We just didn't have a family that were physically affectionate, or expressed love.

My father was her salvation, as he was to us kids. She was very critical, to us all, but because of the demons she fought. I wish she could have gotten help back then, but my family had very little money, and as I said, you didn't talk about those things. She never hit or abused us, which is remarkable as it would have been typical, but she was a very cold mother. She became much better to all of us once we were grown. My Dad worked 13 days out of every 2 weeks, and from 7 am to 6 pm--or later--to keep us fed and housed. He was good to us kids. Just wasn't home much.

I feel badly for my mom, I do. I wish she could have had a better life, but it is what it is.

The demons of the adult impact their children. Years of therapy and antidepressants, and marrying an exceptionally good man made all the difference for me.

I know your mom was horrendous to you, and I am sorry for that.

It is hard to love when you were never loved. I've fought that all my life. It's obvious to me from your contributions here that you won the fight.

Can't "like" your comment, but as to your reply, you get her issue.

And thank you.

While most of the news is predictably bad, there are glimmers of discontent among the marginal magas, those folks who hate liberals and who might never vote for one, because I'm hearing proclamations of staying at home during the midterms. Not much, but it's something.

Be well, Tom, and thanks to Stephen King for promoting your writing. He's an expert on the time we're trying to live through because he really knows creepy when he sees it.

Throw up a tip jar, Tom, for a gas fund. VA loss stings.

I read a more detailed account of the Virginia ruling - the constitution states that there need to be 2 elections and a law passed for it to be valid. The court said that because early voting had started for their Nov 2025 election, it doesn't count as an election. So a weak technicality is what they used to overrule the will of the people.

"Trump’s push to have his administration take a bigger stake in major American businesses is beginning to scare industrialists and executives" - so we have to tap the "exactly like the rise of the Nazis" sign, again, for this one... they just wanted less regulation and a captive audience.

Thank you, TC for TAFM today. When I made my 7 mile round trip to town today....to shop....gas was $4.39 per gallon at Casey's. I understand that our dear governor has inclued the IN fuel tax plus the $.07 sales tax forgiveness for another 30 days. I guess he is trying to win more votes for November. I have $1.00 off Fuel Rewards from purchases at our local grocery store Kroger. However, I can't say I am saving any dollars. I have to drive about 50 miles next Wednesday...so I will try and fill up on my way home. It is always a few cents cheaper in Terre Haute. My brain is spinning with so much goings on! Happy Friday and sending hugs to those that need it today. Hugs.
