THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW - UPDATED

It appears that things are moving from “weird” to “crazy.” Here are things I know you should know.

My nephew, who works in finance, just told me that from what he’s looking at, tomorrow will likely be a “bloodbath” in the markets. If true, it’s probably too late to do anything with market accounts you have, but traditionally trying to do anything while everyone else is going crazy is the worst time to try. If you have a financial advisor, talk to them.

Despite all the rumors of Trump and the Krazies wanting to get rid of FDIC, that has not happened. FDIC is there and they cannot kill it unilaterally. What you have in the bank is safe.

If you are in New England, the Canadian supplier of your heating oil is adding the 10% tariff onto your bill tomorrow.

Elmo’s Children’s Brigade probably does not have the understanding of the system or the expertise to fuck with Social Security, no matter what bullshit that Afrikaner traitor pops off with. Even Trump at his most cognitively declined knows not to fuck with that, people will show up with pitchforks and torches to take him out and introduce his neck to the nearest tree, if the Praetorian Guard doesn’t give him the “Caligula option” first. Don’t panic there.

Tomorros - and the rest of the week - are going to be a good time to remember and take to heart Kipling’s poem: “If you can keep your head when all about you. Are losing theirs and blaming it on you; If you can trust yourself…” you’ll get through it. Or as the Old Navy Chief put it, “when you’re so damn scared you’ve pissed your drawers and crapped your pants and your brain is frozen - and you do your fucking job - that’s being a hero.”

Your ancestors have survived worse. Live up to them.
