Trump wants to block the opening of the Gordie Howe Bridge(Canadian hockey player who played for the Detroit Red Wings for 25 years) connecting Detroit with Windsor, Ontario, a bridge the Canada paid to build to facilitate manufacturing and commerce because the other nearby bridge, the Ambassador is always congested (There's tunnel traffic too.). The bridge would allow for faster and less costly transport of manufacturing parts and truckloads of new vehicles. Here's what the six-time bankrupt POTUS had to say (from Bloomberg):
“I will not allow this bridge to open until the United States is fully compensated for everything we have given them, and also, importantly, Canada treats the United States with the Fairness and Respect that we deserve,” Trump said on social media Monday. “We will start negotiations, IMMEDIATELY. With all that we have given them, we should own, perhaps, at least one half of this asset,” he added. These shakedowns are tiresome.
So much for that comeback of manufacturing jobs. He's bankrupted small farmers and small businesses, and now he's going after auto manufacturing jobs, probably because an auto worker called him what he is, minimally, a pedophile protector and because the Canadians are now the bright light of North America, with most Canadians unified in their contempt for Trump. And, sadly for us, the Canadians may not be back in love with us after Trump hits fertilizer stage because no country any longer has trust in us. Party on, magas.
He has business dealings with the owner of the older bridge that will become obsolete when this one opens. With Trump, it's always something unscrupulous.
