Assume we drive these scum into the deep, cold seas without life preservers, there surely must be consequences for faux news to essentially yell 'fire in a theater'. They bear the responsibility for lighting a match to the bonfire we are now fighting.
I wish I could say this was unbelievable, Tom, but you're right, and it gets worse everyday. I think every Democratic Governor in the Country needs to call up their National Guard to protect their citizens from an out of control Executive Branch of the Federal Government.
I cringed at that sentence too. These clergy predators are the worst kind and have given religion a bad name. I've often wondered if the childhood fascination for building forts and hiding sprang from an instinctive distrust of adults. Reminds me of one of the scariest films of all time, "Night of the Hunter," with creepy evil preacher Robert Mitchum and unwary mother Shelley Winters.
I have to post this, in response to today’s opening graphic. I’ll just say, Democrats need to learn to be more fierce, united ferocity, but it’s nice to know the donkey knows how to have fun! Just enjoy a little time out!
Just have to be sure everybody sees this. Scott Dworkin included it today in his short and sweet daily post, allaying my fears that it might be AI. For such a genteel woman, deep and compassionate, she had a spine of steel!
Tagging onto the elephant/donkey thing, I just read/skimmed this article; it felt a bit lengthy and convoluted so I can’t say I’m following all of it quite yet, but I thought I’d post it.
Palo Alto, CA, has recently had its main thoroughfare (El Camino Real) reworked with fresh pavement, clear, clean lane markers and then row upon row of white bollards separating bike lanes along the curb… Eliminating parking in front of businesses, a bone of contention. I have several friends who rely on use of E bikes, and particularly one friend who is visually impaired (for driving a car, but is fine on a bike)… She is among others who have opinions about the narrow width of the lanes and so forth, should any sort of mishap occur.
Anyway, the contents of this article caught me off guard, and I thought I’d insert it here in case anybody cares to weigh in.
LA city put in bike lanes on the major streets here in the West SFV 10 years ago. So far, outside of the gaggles of Sunday Bike Bros - who don't pay attention to lanes anyway as they ride all over the street, I have yet to see one single bike in any lanes being used as actual transportation beyond upper middle class white boy fun. 10% of the street surface turned over to 0.001% of t he population - who then never use it for other than fun and games, but gee, we're working hard on ending street saturation. Do I sound like Not A Fan of Local Government? I sure am when it comes to the shithole formerly known as Los Angeles.
I can relate here… I don’t think I ever see any bicycles in those lanes except for once when I pulled out of a side street, and those lanes are clearly marked with green arrows, showing bicycles travel the same direction as cars… But as I realized something was in my peripheral vision to the right, someone was riding the wrong way in the bike lane, was glowering and throwing his hands up at me for blocking his way… I did not open my window or engage with him, but I kept thinking about it because I really was not expecting anybody to come from that other side. He was going against traffic. I think he’s the only bicycle I’ve seen in those lanes!
Up in Alameda, I saw wider bike lanes with a yellow center line for two-way traffic, but all in one separated area. On Stanford campus, back in the day,’62-‘67, none of us wore helmets, and there weren’t any painted guidelines whereas now in certain streets and avenues on campus, there are yellow lines to suggest to bicyclists traffic directions mimicking that of streets. But back in my day, it was just a pack of bicycles, and we were somehow riding in amongst each other going every which way, but it worked. It was kind of amazing. I only had one mishap when I left the dorm, FloMo, no backpack or anything, just rode my bike down to the post office to check my box. My bicycle slid on some wet leaves and down I went with a huge gash on the front of one shin. Blood galore! I remember packing leaves on it to quell the flow… it was strangely deserted at that hour, mid morning on maybe a Sunday? The only other mishap was riding to Stanford Hospital for my Candy Striper gig and I remember it was a gray and rainy day… Riding along the side of the street near the curb, someone had put the drain grate cover back with the bars parallel to the bike tire instead of perpendicular… I bottomed out really hard, but didn’t topple. Ouch. But I digress… The usual. Lol.
Thank you, TC. Those just reading can't post! That is the fun of this substack. And I enjoy your comments. How is that finger? I hope you are feeling much better. It was dull yesterday and I missed TAFM. I am sure you needed that day off! It was a rough week. Until Trumpty Dumpty moves out of the White House no company or business will want to be anywhere in the once beautiful and most loved country in the world. Also, I believe that I either read or dreamed the sexual creep Morris had already started another "church". If so those that attend better watch out for their children! It has to get better!!!!! JB Pritzker is going to be on Rachel tonight! I will be watching!
Says Trump, "Until this ‘SCUM’ is removed from the Attorney General’s Office, no company will move to New York, and few companies will be using the New York Stock Exchange, or NASDAQ, for going Public.“ Maybe if the SCUM is removed from the White House tourists will want to visit here again and other countries will again risk doing business with us. Just a thought.
I love that Noem is going to have to wear Depends now, much like her decrepit idol. Good job, those of you who kept her out of the women's restroom, where she may actually have ended up worse off. Like Fight Club, we women aren't supposed to mention the restroom, an arena of very serious negotiations.
Stephen Miller is contemptible but the perfect maidenhead for this ship of state. I'm sure he makes children cry and animals run and hide. Ugh!!!
Trump/Vance signs continue to disappear in this county, a cause for hope, or maybe just a sign of cowardice. No more being loud and being proud in these parts.
If anyone doubts the vicious and cruel radicals laying siege to the Portland ICE facility, show them the harrowing video of the guy in the frog suit marching them backwards and humping at them. Very very serious antifing going on, very dangerous to Portland and not at all hilarious.
Robert Reich's comment seems hopelessly naive - sure prior presidents used information and discussed competing actions and outcomes, but trumpstein just wants to be a dictator, and any "logic" is a backfill to that end.
James Comey got thrown under the bus. Too bad, I guess. But I have a hard time being too sorry for him, since without his "help" in 2016, Hillary might have won that election, and Trump could have faded into history.

That is why the repubs welcomed him with open arms in Jan 1981. He has done a heck of a job and is a prime mover in the division of the country.

A suspended sentence for a long-term 'wonderful secret?
WTAF?

hey it was the theocratic state of Oklahoma. You gotta be surprised he was arrested, even more surprised he was convicted of anything.

Portland and Seattle make good use of bike lanes. Annoyingly, the people on e-scooters and e-bikes do not.

Sorry - finger is fine. Swelling all gone; with aspirin, I can type.
Wonderful!
I open my arms to say 'Welcome, dull day!'

"Mama's and Papa's -
Monday, Monday! Can't
trust that day." I'll say.
Ugh.
It is time for a very short nap!
Thanks, for all that information and more gorgeous pictures from Karen ❤️ I hope your finger is getting better…
Thank You for all you do ! Truth is in short, short supply these days. Thanks for shining the light where it needs to be.

Still are in Texas, sad to say. Still I see some purple

Yes, I post that as a description of the problem we all have. Describing the reality of Trump.
