Of course he would. There are soooo many stories of how medals of honor were awarded to the totally-undeserving for the political symbolism at the time. So the fact Royce actually deserved it cancels out Dilbert's BS.
I had read about Royce Williams and the Medal of Honor in our local San Diego paper but only here learned of TC's relationship with him. I especially appreciate the way that TC acknowledged that Williams is full-on MAGA but that he (TC) can continue to admire Williams for his service.
I was also spared the train wreck of watching the SOTU”; as is my custom on all February Tuesdays, I was watching the conductor of my community band.
I was absolutely disgusted with the Medal of Honor awards that were awarded in that venue. As you stated so eloquently it was complete “enshitification”. Yes, they are political; there is also meaning to them that does NOT belong in that venue.
Can't stand MAGA Trump but love those cats. I'm not reading much about last night because I'm spending all my energy imagining and working for a better America beyond Trump. It's time we truly figure out what we are for, not just what we are against.

I am sure Trumpty Dumpty was reading (the way he sounds when he reads) the script of Royce Williams' Medal of Honor. All the diamonds on Melanoma was sparkling as she put the medal on him with her painted nails that never does a dish or useds a dust rag! Bless Representative Omar for her comment, "You fat old motherfucker, you are the living embodiment of bribery, corruption and lawlessness." Truer words were never spoken!!! She sounded a lot like MTG. Thank you again for your enlightening us.....The kitties are beautiful.....
Sharon, I think those were Tom’s words, not Rep Omar’s. She called him a liar and I think I heard murderer, too. But I agree with you--Truer words were never spoken--by both Tom and Rep Omar!

Yes, that’s what Tom wrote. She shouted back that he was a liar. Period. Then Tom says the rest. If you think about it, Rep Omar is not the type to say those words, and they are in Tom’s wonderful, inimitable style. TC liked my comment, if that means anything. But yes, it would help if he clarified.
I forced myself to watch it all. It was a disgusting display of arrogance, fantasy narrative and exploitation of ordinary people-- invited there as " set-ups " --some of them to shove in the face of the Democrats so he could bully them into standing up and then demean them when they didn't.
The " guests" were largely props for his points and performance! Also, the extraordinarily large number of "guests" to be highlighted or honored seemed to be engineered by handlers for several reasons: one was to make it look like he cared a fig about anyone else; the other, I strongly suspect, was to keep him from completely going off script into dementia mode free association and whining. He had to stick with the script to get everyone in. In between he got his dopamine hits by 1. taking digs at the Dems and the SC justices ( sitting in pathetic silence as they were being skewered); 2. gleefully announcing empty new "programs:"and, 3. spinning webs and webs of lies about how great he had made everything for all of us, despite Biden and the obstructive Democrats. Looking over at them at one point, he exclaimed,frustrated, " These people are crazy!" ( classic projection).
What was even more distressing than he was ( if possible) was the overactive, orchestrated cheerleading of the Republican side of the room. ( Could all of them be that brainwashed??) Not to mention, the annoying,adolescent amusement of the acolytes sitting behind him, who for all the world looked like two 12 yr old boys snickering at the antics of a doddering old fool.
Congratulations to your friend Royce but I wish he and all the other exploited "guests" had declined the invitation. It was sad and deeply agitating to see deserving and suffering folks be so publicly used to " prop up" a depraved and corrupt individual's message.
I'm recovering from a bout of food poisoning this past weekend. I did enough nausea and vomiting then to last a looooonnnnngggg time. I didn't need to revisit that by watching the dump.
