There are 604 days to the mid terms and the GOP Fakakte will happen this Friday at midnight. We can rest secure, however, in the knowledge that the original Declaration of Independence is safe from the tiny hands of Krasnov, who blathered last week - to the concern of his caregivers - that he wanted to have the original declaration moved to the Oval Office, where it couldl be permanently damaged by the bright lights and sunlight through the window, just like he is permanently damaging the country that document funded that heswore an oath to protect from traitors like himself. As with most early-onset cdementia patients, he’s forgotten the idea, now that the caregivers came up with the idea of giving him an Official Copy to play with. That even an Official Copy will ever show up is anybody’s guess. What’s swirling around in Krasnov’s noggin today?
Well, there’s this:
From the Department of Can You Fucking Believe This Shit?: The second week of his mispresidency, Krasnov fired all of the members of the Board of Visitors at the three military academies, for having allowed “DEI” to ruin the institutions. These boards are the effective governance of the academies. Krasnov is now nominating board members who are “non-Woke” and “anti-DEI”. All so far are Krasnov’s close allies. A month after firing the previous board, he has sent a list of nominees to serve on the board of visitors for the U.S. Naval Academy. On the list is Walt Nauta, a Navy veteran who has served as Krasnov’s “body man,” who was federally indicted alongside Krasnov in the classified documents case. Let me explain: Nauta is a Guamanian; he’s a U.S. Citizen, but when he joined, he did not have the opportunities I did in a choice of naval careers. Guamanians and Filipinos join the Navy to become Steward’s Mates (an old Navy rate that translates as “Officers Servant”). They serve in that rating for their first enlistment term, then if they re-enlist, they can go to any Navy school for which they qualify like everybody else, if they want to. Nauta stayed in the Steward’s Mate rating for his 20 years. In gthe White House and at Motel A Lardo, he was responsible for responding to the presidential call button, bringing Krasnov his requested Diet Cokes, which Nauta would bring to on a silver platter. That’s it - that was his job. And now he’s going to be making decisions about how the Naval Academy is run. This is the place that educated people like Ernest J. King, CNO in World War II; Chester W. Nimitz, who won the Pacific War; Raymond A. Spruance, the man who won the two most important carrier battles of the Pacific War. The other nominated members of the Naval Academy Board of Visitors are noted Dancing With the Stars contestant Sean Spicer; noted White House drug dealer and former White House physician Rep. Ronny Jackson, known as “Doc Ronny,”and demoted from Admiral to Captain when the drug dealing came to notice; and former Navy SEAL Rep. Derrick Van Orden, who has clearly demonstrated in Congress that SEALs should be permanently retired when they retire. This continues Krasnov’s record since 2017 of denigrating the U.S. military in the most humiliating ways possible.
And then there’s this jaw-dropper:
From the now-busy Department of Can You Fucking Believe This Shit? Not content with that list of nominees to the Naval Academy Board of Visitors, on Friday Krasnov nominated notable patrons of the arts two election-denying Faux Snooze hatemongers, Fox News host Laura Ingraham and Fox Business anchor Maria Bartiromo to the board of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. I don’t want to even imagine what these two think qualifies as “art.” I can just imagine the conversation on the board when it comes time to decide who’s more deserving of the the Mark Twain Prize - Greg Gutfield or Jeff Foxworthy - the ones with the deciding votes will be Laura and Maria.
From the Department of They Just Make The Lie Bigger When They Get Caught Lying: According to Krasnov’s National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett, Canada is a major source of fentanyl shipping to the United States. Yes! A whole 43 pounds - enough to fill a suitcase. On ABC’s This Week: KARL: “I mean, you said Canada's shipping fentanyl into the United States. I mean, I don't think that's happening. I mean, 1 percent of fentanyl is being smuggled across the border, 1 percent. I mean, Canada is not a major source at all of fentanyl in the United States, are they?” HASSETT: “Well, there -- well, yes they are a major source. And I can tell you that in the Situation Room, I’ve seen photographs of fentanyl labs in Canada that the law enforcement folks were leaving alone. Canada's got a big drug problem, even in their own cities. Go walk around, you know, Toronto and -- and see what it's like and -- and you'll see that it is a big problem.” These people make the sycophants who served Hitler and Mussolini look like Serious People. A Confederacy of Dunces indeed.
From the ever-busy Department of The Cruelty Is The Point: Yesterday, House Republicans unveiled a 6-month stopgap government funding plan, which seeks cuts to nondefense programs while boosting funding for defense. While it is considered a continuing resolution (CR), Republicans say funding levels in the 99-page bill are below those previously set as part of a bipartisan funding deal last year. The plan would allow for moderate increases to defense funding to the tune of about $6 billion above fiscal 2024 levels, though below 2023 levels. Overall funding for nondefense programs would decrease by about $13 billion below fiscal 2024 levels; the bill was crafted in close coordination with the White House. GOP hard-liners, who have long opposed CRs, have signaled they are open to supporting the Trump-backed strategy. Rep. Rosa DeLauro (Conn.), the top Democrat on the House Appropriations Committee, voiced strong criticism of the plan. “Republicans are zeroing out the Toxic Exposures Fund (to care for veterans exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange, and other toxic substances) on October 1. They cut $23 billion from their own bill they passed last year. You can’t make this stuff up.” Ah yes, another indication how “pro-veteran” Krasnov is. Democrats have said they will vote no for any plan t hat does not require Maladministration II to spend funds as directed in accordance with Congressional approvals in the bill. The Drop ‘Em And Spread ‘Em Caucus refuses to do this. GOP leadership will need near unanimity in their conference to pass the bill if all Democrats vote “no.” A small number of hard-line conservatives signaled Thursday they still weren’t sold on the CR, which some have griped locks in former President Biden’s funding priorities.
From the Department of Here’s A Sorta Reason Not To Hate B&N: Last week, Barnes & Noble workers won their first union contract ever, at 3 different locations in New York City. Not only will this boost their healthcare benefits, it also raised their minimum wage to $23 an hour. Now if they’d change their policies about author support... my publisher did a promotion deal with them for one of my books. When I went over to the local B&N to see if they’d like to do a book signing as part of the promotion, they said “Sure! Give us the emails of all your friends and we’ll invite them for you.” When I pointed out the purpose of a signing was to meet friends I didn’t yet know, the promotions coordinator said “We don’t do that.” To which I replied, “And I don’t do you.”
I gotta say in closing that Maladministration II’s identification of Melanoma as “Fist Lady” in social media for her public appearance this past week was really more information than was needed. Her showing up dressed in memory of Marlene Dietrich was pretty snappy though.
Now to jump in the time machine and get back to saving the American POWs in the middle of the hot mess Romania became in August 1944. The king’s men are chasing the Fascist’s men to see who gets to surrender to the Allies.

If Russia is now our ally and Uncle Vlad is our pal--thus reducing the serious threats to us by about 50%--why do we need to up the BIGLIEST defense spending in the world another $6 Billion??
Asking for a friend.
Disclaimer: not on topic: People say things like “I never met a chocolate chip cookie I didn’t like.” So I’m going to shift that cookie cutter template to saying I’ve never read a TAFM post I didn’t like… And they come in a wide variety of flavors, I must add, not news to anybody here. But it’s always such a blessing. So grateful.
As I downsize my collection of books - my own, those from my classroom (favorites), and those brought from my brother’s home - there’s destined to be a TMC section on the freshly organized, distilled bookshelf. Brother Hugh was a most esoteric reader… brilliant guy… Served in Vietnam and later, London. Was one of my best friends. Anyway… He had a humongous collection of books. When he passed, we donated a lot, some went in the dumpster, which just killed me, and I have a number of boxes of books I brought home that seemed unlikely to be found in one’s local library, but at this point… I fear I’d best just peek inside to be sure all that’s there is books and then donate them because even if I live another couple of decades, I don’t know that I’d be able to read them all. Looking forward to solid reading in my dotage, and not just on my phone. Hugh would’ve consumed TMC books with great satisfaction and appreciation. I’ve always loved this Japanese term because I believe it stands for …Endless possibilities. Tsundoku (積ん読)
