From the Department of Here’s Something Else We Haven’t Mentioned Lately: The Krasnov EPA is busy trying to do what Republican EPAs (other than the first version, which amazingly was started by the Fount of All Republican Evil, Richard M. Nixon) do - which is deny the need for an EPA so the problems can get worse. In this case, the Krasnov EPA has blocked work that is central to major international climate change research, and barred federal scientists and diplomats from attending a key global climate event in China this past week. Katherine Calvin, NASA’s chief scientist and senior climate adviser, was barred from traveling to China to meet with colleagues on work related to the next major report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), a U.N. body that makes regular assessments about the state of the warming world. The next report is expected in 2029, and Calvin is leading one of three major IPCC working groups. As is well-known, Krasnov himself has long believed that climate change is a “hoax.” Past IPCC reports made clear human burning of fossil fuels and the greenhouse effect have the planet on the brink of catastrophic levels of warming that have already decimated wildlife populations, harmed agricultural productivity, allowed infectious diseases to thrive and caused weather disasters to intensify. Additionally, the Krasnov EPA wants to repeal the 2009 “endangerment finding” that allowed EPA to regulate carbon dioxide, methane and other greenhouse gases as pollutants under the Clean Air Act that the Obama and Biden administrations used to set strict emissions standards on cars and power plants. In response, Ukraine officially acceded to the Non-Proliferation Treaty as a non-nuclear weapon state on December 5, 1994. That move met the final condition for ratification of START, and on the same day, the five START states-parties exchanged instruments of ratification, bringing the treaty into force.” Clinton, Bush and Obama did nothing as it became clear that Putin was pushing for a policy of incorporating Ukraine back into a restored USSR. Obama specifically did nothing that actualy mattered when Russia took Crimea and eastern Ukraine in 2014. Biden had to constantly be pushed to provide what aid we gave Ukraine after the invasion of 2022. There is shit enough to cover just about every western politician in this.

But experts question his readiness to handle “negotiations” with Putin and Sergey Lavrov, especially as Russia has its eyes set on expansion into Europe.It’s not only our country that is being put at high risk by Krasnov’s apparent loyalty to our adversaries, but our European allies. European leaders sided with Zelenskyy immediately after the disgusting reality TV show Oval Office meeting. The Five Eyes intelligence-sharing partners probably began to assess the need to become more reserved about what they can risk sharing with U.S. partners and what to hold back. Partners will have observed with horror when, during his first term, Trump challenged his own intelligence services, posted a classified photo of an Iranian missile launch site, and eagerly shared secret intelligence with Russian officials. Fears of sharing sensitive information with Washington will have deepened radically following U.S.-Russia talks in Riyadh, when it became clear that the United States now places a higher value on partnering with the Kremlin than the concerns of its European allies.

From the Department of Europe Cuts Us Loose: As I am writing this, there is a meeting going on in London, where the other 29 members of NATO are holding a summit to determine how they will support Ukraine, and to establish an international committee to develop a workable peace agreement that respects the rights of Ukraine. This is the first step of our allies kicking us to the curb - where we obviously belong after the Act of Treason committed by Krasnov and his stooge, Justa Dimbulb Vance last Friday. Bravo Europe!
