I visited Jurate this morning, and told her about Fern’s suggestion here yesterday that people might send her cards. She said “I’d like that.”
I then talked to the supervisor of the home and it’s not a good idea to send mail directly there, since they get medical packages there for the residents.
So, what we will do is you can mail a card to Jurate here at her home, and I will take them up to her and show them to her and read them to her. And then we’ll put them up on the wall beside her bed so she can see them.
If you happen to have a small photo and want to include it, she can see who is writing her.
You can send the cards to: Jurate Krosniunas, 5916 Jamieson Ave., Encino CA 91316.
So there you go, Fern - your idea has taken flight.
For those who want to know how things are, the care she’s getting there is really first-rate. The caregivers are very good. She says she likes what’s on the menu and her sister (who went back to Oregon this morning for a few weeks) told me yesterday she was eating much more than she was here with us feeding her. She had a smile on her face this morning I hadn’t seen for a long time.

💓Heart lifted high, thank you, TC. It will be a great pleasure to send warm greetings, short poems, and moving quotes to Jurate. Let's go TAFM readers and show Jurate that she is in our hearts and on our minds. Jurate wants to hear from US!💗
Thank you, TC. That's such good news about Jurate's smile, liking the food and eating more. I was watching Martin Scorsese's documentary about Fran Leibowitz "Pretend It's A City", and FL said something to the effect that musicians and chefs bring us more joy than any other professions. I think enjoying meals when one has no choice about where and when one is eating is a defining characteristic of a good care establishment. It makes such a difference. Fingers crossed that both your satisfaction with "end of life" care continues. As they say, the card's in the mail! xo
