This really pisses me off! "It literally took FOURTEEN C-17 Air Force cargo planes to haul J.D. Vance’s FORTY armored Chevy Suburbans to Milan to carry his retinue for his attendance at the Olympics."
I remember the first time (back in the 50s) that I convinced my parents to stop at a - gasp! - Italian restaurant and have pizza. Mommy Dearest complained about not having American food.
p.s. I think only 3 or 4 of the planes were for the food supply & 40 armored vehicles, and the rest were for the 300 armed security staff. J Divans is afraid of everything.
Oh, the U.S. skating team almost missed their chance to compete because they were caught in traffic on an Olympics provided bus due to the VP's motorcade disrupting traffic and taking five minutes to pass by.
I'm not surprised by the entourage for the sofasexual. At least 6 or so months ago, somewhere I saw a clip of the entourage that accompanies Trump into Mar-a-Lago. I kid you not, it goes on for several minutes. I didn't count but it looked to be about 50 vehicles. I couldn't figure out what the heck they need that many for?! Do they think a herd, like in Walking Dead, was going to surround them?!?
The juxtaposition of your report on Mayor Mamdani's unification speech with the crudeness and self-satisfaction of Andrew Tate leaps off the screen. Only maga women would want anything to do with Tate, who'd not want anything to do with them because they "obey in advance," thereby eliminating the power "grab". (Dog, these freaks are tiresome.)
As an addendum to Sen. Gallego's tactic of a general strike, I think not showing up should be coupled with subscription and card cancellation involving any of the billionaire class or corporations, but do it on the day before the strike on Cancellation Eve when staff are there to process cancellations. Target, Amazon, Tesla, all levels of government offices, the big donor and compliant guys, and then everyone congregate at the small local shops and spend at least a fiver or ten. It would show common cause with small business people. Refrain from using social media. Read a book, one of Tom's such as "Bridge Busters," sit on your stoop and wave at your neighbors, their kids, their dogs, and patrol cars, and ponder all the subtle and subversive ways change can be forced.
…Senator Ron Wyden told The Guardian: “Lying to Congress about his role in the deadly measles outbreak in Samoa only underscores the danger he now poses to families across America. He and his allies will be held responsible.”
Me: When? How? To what degree?
For the life of me, lying to Congress seems to be an offense that forever goes unpunished, no consequences. (He’s certainly not the only one !!!)
Where shall I look to understand why?
Kavanaugh. Patel. Noem. Bondi.
During the public testimony, under oath, by special prosecutor Jack Smith, it seemed the entire GOP delegation was set up upon tripping him up with tiny details and more… It didn’t happen, but if they had succeeded, Jack Smith would have committed perjury. Would there have been consequences? Would it simply have been the trumpeting of the news in the court of public opinion?
Here’s hoping somebody can help me out here. Thanks in advance.
And Marsha, Paul and Miselle, great comments… My thoughts exactly… FOURTEEN C-17 cargo planes…??!! And brought his own food??!! And then the weekly trips to Mar-a-Lago where it is my understanding the taxpayer pays for lodging of the Secret Service there to protect POTUS…
Okayeeee. Thx. Staying tuned. Double standard much?
I guess I reach back in time to candidates for SCOTUS and while we can say times change and viewpoints can morph, if the Constitution is the basis for formulating rulings… While they claim to be Originalists, what that means becomes clouded and they twist themselves like pretzels, working backwards from desired outcomes to somehow back rulings up rationally, many (most?) times not succeeding. What a charade. So out of whack!
>>> So what’s my point? I’d say a prime example is the Dobbs decision: reveals multiple parties lying under oath during confirmation hearings… ‘Not inclined to undo settled, precedent,’ etc., blah blah blah.
Anyway, I detoured before circling back to my original point.
Lies? Perjury? Accountability? Real world justice across the board, that no one person is above the law…
We should not have to dream on, dream on.
I’ll continue to read Today’s Edition for hope that is authentic, not sappy…
And Tom, between good news segments you make a point to include, plus the charming kitty pics… It’s all good. Thx.
I hear you Katherine and agree. Held responsible for what, when?
The deaths of those Hawaiian children that RFK Jr may as well smothered with pillows in their beds himself while he was there because the effect of his visit had the same result.
Wyden and the others in congress are full of nothing but hot air and horse puckey, just talking for the love of hearing the sound of their own voices.
Please keep an eye on the Save act - now the Save America act (because of course it is) - which was scheduled to be voted on this week. I think now it is going to be delayed a bit and possibly approached in conjunction with the DHS funding in two weeks, but I'm not positive of that. Reporting on it is sparse and contradictory despite how immensely vital that it not be passed.
They have tried to pass it repeatedly. Along with their tactic of distraction and inundation, they also use this tactic of repetition which is second cousin to boredom and normalization. They're trying to pass that Save act again that will disenfranchise vast portions of the U.S. population? Oh well, they've tried that before and it didn't work... oh look! Another outrage over there! And there! We cannot fall for thinking it's old hat and cannot pass because it has failed before.
It's not going to get past a filibuster, and the Republicans are not going to implement a "standing filibuster" on this because they know the Democrats would make all filibusters bck to "standing filibusters" which would take their weapon away from them, come January.
Yes, that's the way it looks for now which I think is why tRump suggested delay on it for now, but I have become so wary of relying on any rules or standard procedures I just want everyone with a big bat to keep an eye on the damn thing in case it shows any sign of life. The more I read the provisions the worse I understand it to be.
This really pisses me off! "It literally took FOURTEEN C-17 Air Force cargo planes to haul J.D. Vance’s FORTY armored Chevy Suburbans to Milan to carry his retinue for his attendance at the Olympics."
All that and he brought his own food. He brought his own food to Milan. He went to Milan, in Italy, and brought his own food.
What an asshole.
I remember the first time (back in the 50s) that I convinced my parents to stop at a - gasp! - Italian restaurant and have pizza. Mommy Dearest complained about not having American food.
Asshole doesnt even slightly cover it.
He's an Ankle! Three foot lower than an asshole.

Maybe Ankle is too high!
Probably knew' given the chance, somebody would spit in his food (the bare minimum).

We wish!!!!
Yeah, but the Walking Dead eat brains, so they'd starve at Motel a Lardass.
🤣

Re. The Wrong RFK Got Shot:
Closing lines:

The money just flows… smh
Jack Smith - and any Democrat - would be prosecuted.

Agreed! At some point enough has to be enough, has to be enough, is enough, absolutely ENOUGH!
Hot air and puffery contribute to global warming, so it needs to be curtailed!
I would think they could be removed....
Sharon, you would think so, but I don’t see any action in that direction…. If it were you or me… Well, you know how that would go.
Yep!!!!
