<<<tremendous SIGH my husband can hear in the next room>>>
The action of this regime to exhaust us all is quite effective. I'm so tired of it all. If not for Jessica Craven's "CHOP WOOD, CARRY WATER" Substack's weekly list of "good news"....I don't know. Here's the address for any unfamiliar with her work:
Tom, I'm missing kitty pictures. I'm going though my phone and searching for a number of good ones. (hah! ALL cat photos are good! 😉) I'm not very good with tech, so I'm going to ask my husband to help me figure out how to get them into a format that I can send to you. I hope readers will send their cat, dog, etc photos. We have a 26 y/o red ear slider turtle, which is cute but it isn't very photogenic. (This mom was conned into bringing into our home after being told it would live 10 years. Kids have all moved on and we are left to clean the 55 gal tank. I think it will outlive us.)
Hang in there, everyone. Like Tom says "WE ARE NOT THE CRAZY ONES!!"
Hate to burst whatever bubble you are holding onto - but remember that some tortoises live to be over 200 years old - have no idea if this applies to turtles too.
I have heard of Jessica Craven's substack - will look for it. I can really use some GOOD news.
In sort of the same vein although not as long a vein as Tim - about 4 1/2 years ago Axel, my dog found a baby bird under a Petunia plant - she had obviously fallen out of the nest - very fluffy etc. So, I brought her in the house & put her in a little cardboard box - looked online to see how to feed her (all the time remembering all the baby birds that did not survive years ago) mixed up dog kibble & water into a soup & used a syringe to feed her. Lo and behold the little twerp not only survived but graduated to a habitat & started feeding herself. She now lives in a "flight" cage - eats a mix of soaked kibble & hard boiled egg yolk chopped up with my pastry blender (and nope, I no longer blend pastry) gets blueberry & juice and part of a chopped up apple everyday, PLUS a pc of banana & 4 raisins.
I looked online & it says these birds - Cedar Waxwings - live in the wild for 8 years. at this point - she may outlast me!
Incidentally, her name is Pookie (I firmly believe she is a female).
Long story, Miselle, but basically, I hear where you are coming from!!!
We discovered "Tim" is actually "Tim-ella" as she's laid eggs a few times to our great surprise. Obviously, they are infertile. A reptile hobbyist told us she must be well cared for, as he claimed they generally will not lay eggs without a male in the tank.
Awwwww - sounds like you had better list him… Kind of like parrots and some of those great birds…
And oh, I read your conversation about Pookie, Tim-ella, and more… I love all the peripheral learning that happens in this community… besides being interesting, you never know when it might be useful, even to pass along to somebody else…
I hope to see Tom post more in the near future, but it's up to us to send them to him! Cats, and dogs, and whatever. Perhaps a photo of Tim the turtle might end up here as well! 🐢
Jessica Craven is amazing… Rob Hubbell, Today’s Edition, SUBSTACK, has recommended her ongoing since 2017… She’s a fireball and has a lot of short informative videos. Easy access, very useful links and info, nothing too lengthy… The good news part certainly uplifts.
For sure I was thinking that exactly but didn’t try to find the words. Such folly that I think some of us thought after the 2020 election, his bombacity and visage would fade away, and we could breathe again… But with the Big Lie, all his plotting and then January 6… There’s been no letup, no relief… I’ve mentioned before that I immersed myself in HAMILTON the Movie (released for the big screen 9/5/25), accessed multiple viewings via a special deal… Immersed my brain in the narrative and the music… (It held particular significance in our family as it is), but what I enjoyed is it blocked out the growing tenancy to awaken with political names floating through my head and I knew something had to be done. So thanks to my intentional immersion, I would wake up and, like tuning into a radio, it was like, “Oh, what song is playing in my head?” And later in the morning, “Oh, what song is playing now?” I mean… It effectively screened out overload “noise” from which I was clearly suffering. (Of course, I’m not alone!)
The lesson, I realize, is to have enough balance in each day, so as not to obsess, to compartmentalize a bit perhaps, in order to successfully shut out that noise at will, if possible, keeping alive sanity…. and even joy, hope, the motivation of fellowship and collective spirit to rise up, resist, knowing that we will ultimately successfully vanquish.…
I find anything with animals can take my mind away from all that garbage. I keep up with what's happening with Wild Horses - not good right now. Plus my own dog, cat & bird. During the winter, I feed the deer - right now they are hungry - its been pretty nippy here - 8 degrees tonight!
I've stopped turning on the tv and the computer first thing in am. That helps just a bit.
Like you (and everyone) hopefully the successful vanquishing will come - before doofus in chief destroys everything.
I agree with you… Animals… Re-centers a person as to what matters in life.
I’ll admit to loving to watch the artistry of ice-skating… In particular, Ilia Malini and Alysa Liu. I get lost in another world and even feeling inspired to get out and exercise… Dream on, Kathie. Lol.
Here’s a sample… So so powerful, skated to Hope by NF. Fascinating message.
Read Robert Reich's Substack today, "Davos's Duty". He challenges Jamie Dimon to do the right thing at Davos. Quit being polite. Take on Trump and give the other CEO's the opening to do the same! He's not sure he has what it takes but with Dimon being near retirement.....maybe?
I am a retired attorney. I specialized in employment law so I’m not an expert in banking law. But what the freak is “debanking”? Businesses, like JP Morgan Chase, are permitted to choose their customers, so long as they don’t discriminate on the basis of protected criteria, like race. I think that calling for an insurrection is not a protected category!
Btw , there will never be a 25th amendment removal of he-who-shall-not-be/named. Does anyone think realistically that Vance, Hegseth and Bondi would ever vote to have him removed from office?
Article 2 section 4 would be better anyway, as is my understanding, the core personnel of the admin (regime) would be removed right along with him. I’ve seen it noted, have not read it, so I could be skating on thin ice here…
Saw a video this morning where ICE was grabbing citizens in Morristown NJ where I was born and George Washington had his headquarters. The long brutal Revolutionary War continues. Hands Off. No Kings. Resist.
I despised Donald Trump since the first time I ever heard of him when he bragged about his sex life with Marla Mapes. To help end the reign of boobyheaded madman is now my sole focus. This p o s has got to go. You nailed it about K n: “small state mean girl who shoots puppies.”🐶
Thanks for the wrap-up, Tom. I wonder if I’m losing the ability to be outraged?
Shield of the Republic on Substack had a fascinating interview with Michael Weiss today. It ranged from the Iranian protests to Syria, to Venezuela ( Weiss said Maduro’s BP, now in charge, is a dyed in the wool Marxist and Cuban agent). They finished with Havana Syndrome, which now has apparently been admitted to being a real thing. Supposedly a contraption/mechanism has come to light and proven to produce the effects diplomats claimed to suffer. I’m not claiming it’s true but it wouldn’t surprise me. Weiss said many things that told me he has Trump’s number, totally, including his near Dr Strangelove fascination/ obsession with nuclear apocalypse.
You know what would really get That Asshole to back off? UEFA to threaten to not send their qualified teams to the World Cup. Or Infantino to threaten to pull the matches out of the US and play them all in Canada and Mexico. There is a movement within the national team's supporters to not attend games in the US. I doubt it will happen, but hey.
I’d like to think there’s some sort of safeguard, but don’t know that for sure… Here’s where Senator Mark Kelly et al cite the rule of not following illegal orders… The weight of the world would be on somebody’s shoulders if DJT reached for that button…
Minnesota courts have the authority to investigate and bring charges against federal officers within the state. The DOJ has said they aren't investigating it anymore, so I bet MN acts on this, just maybe not in the next week or two.
Tom, here’s hoping you are a happy camper with your new computer set up. I think you mentioned your circle of friends and contacts allowed for obtaining something that really will serve you well, a good thing as you regularly generate writing on many fronts in addition to TAFM.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a kitty photo included here with kitty lolling across a keyboard. I know that has happened to me a number of times.
In the pre-computer era, at our round kitchen table, I would set up two piles of papers to correct, at my placemat and that of our grandson. Invariably, our beautiful Norwegian forest cat, Rebecca, would hop up and plop herself down onto one of the piles. I would stroke her, talk to her, and she would fall asleep. Then I would quietly move, work on the other pile till she woke up, noticed me, and she’d come plop down on the pile in front of me, where I was working. (“Pet me, pet me.”) Rinse and repeat. Strokes, soothing little comments, love you love you love you. When it was safe, I would quietly move to the other seat where a warm pile of papers awaited me.
(Laptop work changed the dynamic of that scenario.)
Happy new computer! Thanks for today’s post. The news is always full of surprises……
Keep in mind that someone who has advanced dementia or some other mental illness cannot be convicted of a crime because he cannot participate in mounting his own defense. I see a lot of the scrambled behavior as a way for Trump to beat the rap, the one spelled out in the Epstein Files that we will never see but which a few have, and Trump knows it. He's got the heebie-jeebies because increasingly more depraved leaks are coming. And Stephen Miller may be using such info to control Trump and make him set the stage for Miller's own coup. (Some of those late night screeds were definitely not drafted by the Pedo in Chief. ) Miller is a might-makes-right guy who is steering things in a direction that allows him to hold outsized power for a deputy COS. Every time I see that officious big-mouth I think of Ray Bradbury's great title "Something Wicked This Way Comes," a line from Macbeth.

YIIIIIIIIIIIIKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!
I think I have to write "Tim the Turtle" into my will.
I think you do!
I'm really impressed! Pook has never laid eggs but she moults a couple times a year! Thats not as impressive as eggs, tho.
💚🐢💚

This conversation sure beats any of the ones that come up about dumpty.
Actually enjoyable. We really need these every now and then just to cleanse our palettes(sp?). You know what I mean.
Glad to fill the spot of missing cats!
I hope to see Tom post more in the near future, but it's up to us to send them to him! Cats, and dogs, and whatever. Perhaps a photo of Tim the turtle might end up here as well! 🐢
Good luck figuring out how - Love to see Tim Turtle.

THAT picture of dumpty needs to be put on billboards!!
That's as much of a comment as I am able to make after reading this post!! HE's an idiot.
What a great idea! Billboards!!! He hates pictures of himself that don’t show him in good light… Whatever that means.
Quite honestly - is there such a thing?

Fun times, not, in the
USA with a deranged 5
year old as president.
And you bet they want
the murder of Renee

disappear as fast as

Maduro’s VP, no BP 🙃
