AND WEEK THREE ARRIVES AT FULL SPEED
It turns out the crazy old shitbird is too crazy to let things pile up further than being one day in arrears. Herewith ther Holiday Edition of That’s Another Fine Mess.
There are 285 days to the mid-terms. Today is Martin Luther King Day, a good time to remember when Americans tried to do the right thing and make the country a more perfect union - unlike todfay where the government seeks to overturn all those victories and return us to the Before Time.
The only people the Justice Department is investigating for the fatal ICE shooting of Renee Good are her widow, the governor of Minnesota, and the mayor of Minneapolis. In a staggering admission over the weekend, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, the former personal criminal defense lawyer for President Trump, confirmed that the Justice Department is no longer investigating the shooting. In an interview on Fux Snooze yesterday, Blanche said: What happened has been reviewed by millions of Americans because it was recorded. We investigate when it’s appropriate. That is not the case here. We are not going to bow to pressure. So no, we are not investigating.” It’s not clear when the federal investigation into the Jan. 7 shooting was suspended. It came sometime after Minnesota U.S. Attorney Daniel Rosen reportedly squeezed state investigators out of the federal probe, a move announced by state officials on Jan. 8. The best evidence suggests that the suspension of the federal probe may have been the same week as the shooting, around the time that Harmeet Dhillon, the assistant attorney general for civil rights, decided the DOJ Civil Rights Division would not investigate the Good shooting. That prompted half a dozen career lawyers in that division to resign, a move that was first reported by MSNow on Jan. 12. The FBI did conduct an “initial review” of the shooting and “determined that sufficient grounds existed to open a civil rights probe,” the WaPo reports. That was presumably before Dhillon shut it all down. News of the federal criminal investigation into the constitutionally protected political activities of Walz and Frey came two days after Blanche accused them of “terrorism” on social media: “Walz and Frey – I’m focused on stopping YOU from your terrorism by whatever means necessary. This is not a threat. It’s a promise.”
In other bad news at the DOJ, Meidas Touch reports that as early as this week, Maladministration II appears poised to gut a “century-old” Justice Department ethics norm that requires the agency’s attorneys to recuse themselves from cases in which they hold a conflict of interest. This would give the attorney general sole authority over recusals, allowing DOJ attorneys to remain on cases despite potential conflicts. The decision came from the very top; Trump views the requirement for DOJ attorneys to recuse themselves as an affront to his policy agenda. “The president believes that conflicts have been used as a weapon by the deep state to slow-walk his agenda,” the official told MediasTouch News. “This rule ensures that the people hired to do a job actually do it.”
This is Big: The Pentagon is reportedly readying about 1,500 soldiers for deployment to Minnesota, where large protests against Trump’s deportation agenda following the deadly shooting of Renee Good have escalated. Sunday, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey pushed back against the Trump administration for reportedly ordering active-duty soldiers to prepare for a possible deployment to Minnesota. “This act was clearly designed to intimidate the people of Minneapolis. And here’s the thing, we’re not going to be intimidated. If the goal here is safety, we’ve got many mechanisms to achieve safety. And, the best way to get safety is not to have an influx of even more agents, and in this case, military, in Minneapolis,” Frey told CNN’s Jake Tapper on “State of the Union.” “Right now we have about 600 police officers, and they’ve got 3,000 or so ICE and CBP agents. That they are now talking about deploying 1,500 military, this is, well, it’s ridiculous, but, we will not be intimidated by the actions of this federal government,” Frey added. The soldiers on standby are from the Army’s 11th Airborne Division, based at Alaska’s Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, and have a specialty in cold-weather operations, according to multiple news outlets. This is Donnie Dimbulb trying to keep the idea he will invoke the Insurrection Act alive as a distraction.
Small state Mean Girl who shoots puppies did an interview with Dana Bash on CNN: Noem: “We can’t trust our government anymore.” Bash: “You are the government.” Noem: “Yes, that’s what I’m saying.” (No, I did not make this up, you cannot out-satire the unsatireable. Has anyone tried throwing water on Noem?)
After Trump announced plans Saturday to impose new tariffs on the country and seven of its allies next month amid his push to acquire Greenland, Danish leaders are refusing to “back down” to Maladministration II. Danish lawmaker Pelle Dragsted, in a translated post on social platform X, urged European leaders to demonstrate “solidarity and resistance” to Trump’s BS.
“Trump must not be allowed to divide us. The EU must respond united and hit back hard. Go hard after the tech oligarchs in Trump’s inner circle. Enough is enough!” Danish Chamber of Commerce CEO Brian Mikkelsen rebuffed the threat, saying, “Trump’s farce continues. The American president is once again using tariffs as a threat. As so many times before, it is damaging to confidence in world trade and damaging to the American and European economies. There is a need for a coordinated European response - and there is a need for a coordinated response from the American Congress. It is surreal that we have come to this point, but it is unfortunately the new reality - and it is one we all must address.” I love the idea of putting Widdle Markie Fuckerberg’s balls in a vise and closing it. Squeal, widdle Markie! Squeal like the piggie you are. Paul Krugman commented on the extraordinary pushback on Trump’s bizarre demand for Greenland, that he has responded with “a howl of frustration on the part of a mad dictator who has just realized that he can’t send in the because “a trade war with one EU country is a trade war with the entire EU.” Ignoring the reality that Greenland is part of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), the world’s strongest defense alliance, it said that Greenland and Denmark, of which Greenland is a part, “currently have two dogsleds as protection, one added recently.” It also added that the protection Trump insists only U.S. ownership of Greenland can provide might also include “the possible protection of Canada.” He has gone from crazy to demented and delusional. President of the European Council António Costa and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen issued a joint statement, underlining that “territorial integrity and sovereignty are fundamental principles of international law. They are essential for Europe and for the international community as a whole.” The two leaders reiterated that they are committed both to dialogue with the U.S. and to standing firm behind Denmark and the people of Greenland. The Republican Party is going to pay for a generation for refusing to place this insane leader in the padded, locked cell he should be in. As Phillips O’Brien notes: “Basically Trump is threatening to sanction NATO unless NATO commits suicide. And people still think he might sanction Russia. He is doing Putin’s work.”
Meanwhile, lawmakers in the EU say they will not ratify a new trade agreement the European Commission and Trump signed last July. Some lawmakers are talking about using a trade “bazooka” against the U.S., a range of measures outlined in the E.U.’s Anti-Coercion Instrument that punish trade rivals trying to coerce the E.U. Those include trade restrictions and restricting investment in the E.U. For all of Trump’s bluster about U.S. trade, the world appears to be moving on without the U.S. Sunday,
In the midst of yet another Adderall overdose, Sundowning Crazy Person spewed from the Golden Throne on Lies Anti-Social: “A front page Article in The Fake News Wall Street Journal states, without any verification, that I offered Jamie Dimon, of JPMorgan Chase, the job of Fed Chairman. This statement is totally untrue, there was never such an offer and, in fact, I’ll be suing JPMorgan Chase over the next two weeks for incorrectly and inappropriately DEBANKING me after the January 6th Protest, a protest that turned out to be correct for those doing the protesting — The Election was RIGGED! “Why would I give it to Jamie? No such offer was made there, or even thought of, either.” The broken-inside permanent six year old was probably still upset about the fact Dimon also led JPMorgan Chase in its decision not to fund the $400 million dance hall, with Dimon saying that any connection to the project could come back to bite them in a CNN interview in November: “Since we do a lot of contracts with governments here and around the world, we have to be very careful how anything is perceived. And also, how the next DOJ is going to deal with it? So, we’re quite conscious of the risk we bear by doing anything, it looks like, you know, buying favors or anything like that.”
What loyalty gets you in the TrumpGOP: Senator Bill Cassidy has bent over backwards to try to get back in Trump’s good graces since voting to convict him in his second impeachment trial in 2021. Most notably, Cassidy cast the crucial vote to advance the nomination of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as Health and Human Services secretary, despite knowing Kennedy was a fraudulent crank. Late Saturday, to snub Cassidy, Trump decided to back his would-be primary opponent in a Saturday night Lies Anti-Social post that announced his support for Rep. Julia Letlow; He ended: “Should she decide to enter this Race, Julia Letlow has my Complete and Total Endorsement. RUN, JULIA, RUN!!!” Trumplethinskin never forgets.
On Saturday, Trump imposed new 10% tariffs on all goods from six EU countries, the U.K., and Norway, in an attempt to up the ante in his bid to acquire Greenland from the Kingdom of Denmark. On Sunday, diplomats from the bloc’s 27 governments met to affirm their options to “fight back” against the tariffs, Politico’s European bureau reported.“It’s clear that a line has been drawn and enough is enough,” said one diplomat with knowledge of Sunday’s talks. “But at the moment we are discussing options — if Trump’s tariffs are imposed, then we will be discussing not what options there are but which options to use.” One option the diplomats discussed is a roughly $107 billion tariff package the bloc prepared when Trump announced his first round of tariffs in 2025. Those tariffs were put on hold when the EU signed a trade deal with the U.S. in July 2025. Another option under discussion is using the bloc’s “trade bazooka” to hold the U.S. accountable for trying to politically blackmail the EU, according to the report.
“This is a stronger measure and would come up against some concern from more cautious members of the bloc,” the report reads. “Governments did not ask the European Commission to move forward with the deployment of the tool at this stage, according to three diplomats.”
Kristi Noem was cornered into admitting the ICE agent involved in the fatal shooting of Renee Good was being investigated per protocol. The DHS Secretary was confronted by CBS News’ Face the Nation host Margaret Brennan about whether the agent Jonathan Ross’ conduct was being reviewed after the shooting in Minneapolis on Jan. 7. “We are following the exact same investigative and review process that we always have under ICE and under the Department of Homeland Security and within the administration. The exact same policy that the Biden administration used,” Noem said during the interview Sunday.
In the midst of yet another Adderall overdose Sunday night, Sundowning Grampa crawled to the Golden Throne and spewed once again on Lies Anti-Social and called for a Democratic Party representative to be jailed in one of several late night posts. The president took aim at Minnesota Rep Ilhan Omar and, in separate posts, denounced a plan for a New York Stock Exchange in Texas and called out Denmark for failing to stand up against Russia in Greenland. The series of posts were made in the early hours of January 19, with Trump calling out Omar. He wrote, “There is 19 Billion Dollars in Minnesota Somalia Fraud. Fake ‘Congresswoman’ Illhan Omar, a constant complainer who hates the USA, knows everything there is to know. She should be in jail, or even a worse punishment, sent back to Somalia, considered one of the absolutely worst countries in the World. She could help to MAKE SOMALIA GREAT AGAIN!” Trump had earlier used Truth Social to make conspiracy-filled claims about the Dem rep. “They should be thrown out of the USA. Get it done, NOW!” wrote Trump at the time. “That includes their loser Rep. Omar, who married her brother (gross!). President DJT.” Trump also posted on Truth Social to make claims about NATO and Denmark’s relationship as the president continues to push for Greenland to become US territory. He wrote, “NATO has been telling Denmark, for 20 years, that “you have to get the Russian threat away from Greenland.” Unfortunately, Denmark has been unable to do anything about it. Now it is time, and it will be done!!! President Donald J. Trump.” Shortly after his NATO comment, he said there would be “a big test” on the cards if Texas were to push ahead with a New York Stock Exchange-like practice. Trump wrote, “Building a ‘New York Stock Exchange’ in Dallas is an UNBELIEVABLY BAD THING FOR NEW YORK. I can’t believe they would let this happen. A big test for the new Mayor!” He is such an embarrassing piece of shit.
Progressive YouTuber Brian Tyler Cohen was aghast in a new video about Trump’s efforts to acquire Greenland, which seem to be pushing America’s allies to the brink. “The reality is that the U.S. is being led by an absolute deranged tyrant. But it’s not only his fault. It’s also these spineless, groveling sycophants in the Republican party who could serve as a check on his power if only they could find their own balls. But they won’t because they’re more concerned with not being the subject of a mean tweet by their god king. It’s a sad day in the world where I have to sit here and root for other countries to uphold the values of my own country because the current administration and their hangers-on in Congress and the GOP are setting fire to our ideals, our reputation, and our laws on a daily basis.” Well, I am sitting here rooting for the other side to win and defeat our homegrown Wehrmacht. That’s really painful.
He is delusional, and far crazier than you can possibly imagine: Nick Schifrin, PBS NewsHour’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Correspondent, reported late Sunday that he has obtained the text of a letter from President Donald Trump to Norway’s Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre that complains about the Nobel Prize; targets Greenland; and reiterates threats. According to Schifrin, the letter is being circulated by NSC staff to various European Ambassadors in Washington. Here is the full text as released by Schifrin:
Dear Ambassador:
President Trump has asked that the following message, shared with Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, be forwarded to your [named head of government/state].
“Dear Jonas: Considering your Country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 Wars PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace, although it will always be predominant, but can now think about what is good and proper for the United States of America. Denmark cannot protect that land from Russia or China, and why do they have a ‘right of ownership’ anyway? There are no written documents, it’s only that a boat landed there hundreds of years ago, but we had boats landing there, also. I have done more for NATO than any other person since its founding, and now, NATO should do something for the United States. The World is not secure unless we have Complete and Total Control of Greenland. Thank you! President DJT”
If the 25th Amendment was capable of working in our hyper-polarized politics, this would be the final proof he has to be confined to a padded cell. He. Is. Delusional. And controls the nuclear codes.

<<<tremendous SIGH my husband can hear in the next room>>>
The action of this regime to exhaust us all is quite effective. I'm so tired of it all. If not for Jessica Craven's "CHOP WOOD, CARRY WATER" Substack's weekly list of "good news"....I don't know. Here's the address for any unfamiliar with her work:

Tom, I'm missing kitty pictures. I'm going though my phone and searching for a number of good ones. (hah! ALL cat photos are good! 😉) I'm not very good with tech, so I'm going to ask my husband to help me figure out how to get them into a format that I can send to you. I hope readers will send their cat, dog, etc photos. We have a 26 y/o red ear slider turtle, which is cute but it isn't very photogenic. (This mom was conned into bringing into our home after being told it would live 10 years. Kids have all moved on and we are left to clean the 55 gal tank. I think it will outlive us.)
Hang in there, everyone. Like Tom says "WE ARE NOT THE CRAZY ONES!!"
THAT picture of dumpty needs to be put on billboards!!
That's as much of a comment as I am able to make after reading this post!! HE's an idiot.
